Follow the Mosel River by bike and barge through Germany, Luxembourg and France, tracing a route shaped by Roman roads, medieval trade and centuries of winemaking. Cycle river paths by day and return each evening to your floating home base. Begin in Cologne and Bonn, the birthplace of Beethoven and former capital of West Germany, before traveling to Cochem to board our private barge and start your journey through the Mosel Valley. Ride past steep vineyards, half-timbered villages and castle-crowned hills toward Luxembourg and France. Explore towns such as Bernkastel-Kues, Trier and Saarburg and take in views of one of Europe’s celebrated wine regions. Step ashore to connect the landscape with its past. Walk through Roman Trier, learn about the region’s medieval roots and sample local vintages and regional cuisine while enjoying the rhythm of daily rides balanced with time aboard the barge.
Best of all, you'll...
  • Learn about life during the Cold War and the reunification of German post WWII.
  • Explore Roman Trier, charming Bernkastel-Kues and the crossroads cultures of Luxembourg and northeastern France.
  • Savor regional cuisine and Mosel wines while enjoying the camaraderie of a bike and barge journey.
