If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Hotel Mondial AM Dom Cologne in Cologne

Start of Trip:  Day 2 transfer from Frankfurt Airport to Cologne Hotel; 2:00 p.m. City field trip, and hotel check in, 6 p.m. Welcome Dinner

Getting to the site: Ground Trans to First Location: Take a direct train from Frankfurt Airport (Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof) to Cologne Central Station (Köln Hauptbahnhof). The journey takes about 1 hour on a high-speed ICE train. Then either a) Take a taxi from Cologne Central Station to Hotel Mondial Am Dom Cologne MGallery, about 5 minutes, or b) Walk from Cologne Central Station to the hotel, approximately 0.3 miles (5 minutes). The hotel is located right next to Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) in the Old Town area.

Getting to the site by train or bus: Taxis, buses, and trains are available. Review schedules and fares online

Your trip ends on: Tuesday, October 5, 2027 in Mainz at Brunfels Hotel

End of Trip: 9:00 a.m. after breakfast (may depart earlier)

Getting to the airport: There are two options for traveling from the hotel to Frankfurt Airport: Take a direct train from Mainz Central Station (Mainz Hauptbahnhof) to Frankfurt Airport (Frankfurt Flughafen Regionalbahnhof or Fernbahnhof). The journey takes about 25–30 minutes, with trains departing frequently throughout the day. Then either a) Take a taxi from Brunfels Hotel (Münsterstraße 11, Mainz) to Frankfurt Airport. The drive is about 30 km and takes approximately 25 minutes, depending on traffic. b) Walk from Brunfels Hotel to Mainz Central Station, approximately 0.8 miles (15–20 minutes), then take the direct train to Frankfurt Airport. Trains run frequently and arrive directly at the airport terminals.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Participants who have not purchased airfare through Road Scholar are responsible for making their own transfer arrangements to the first site at the beginning of the program, as well as from the last site at the end of the program. The Information Packet Road Scholar sends in advance of the program includes details needed to make your transfer arrangements. If you wish to purchase airfare through Road Scholar, please call (800) 241-1404. Please note: In the unlikely event Road Scholar must make changes to the program's arrival or departure details, we will notify all participants as soon as possible. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
