If I’m arranging my own travel, how do I know where to go?

Several months before your departure, we will send you detailed information that includes instructions on how to get to the starting location of your program. You can also find lots of transportation details in the “Travel Information” section on every trip on our website.

Can I just purchase/arrange a Road Scholar transfer if I have booked my own flights?

If you did not book Road Scholar air and/or are arriving on dates that are not the designated group arrival/departure date, you are responsible for your own transfer. Please refer to your prep mat for suggestions.

If I purchase airfare through Road Scholar, is ground transportation included?

If you purchase your airfare through us and travel on the scheduled arrival and departure dates, we’ll take care of getting you to the starting location of your program and back to the airport at the end. It’s one of the reasons why purchasing airfare through us makes your experience hassle free.

Will a Road Scholar staff member meet me at the airport?

For most of our International programs, if you purchase your airfare through us and will be arriving on the start date of your program (not arriving early or late), we’ll meet you at the airport. Instructions and the meeting place will be included in your final information packet. If you purchased airfare on your own, you’ll need to make your own arrangements to arrive at the first site of your program and depart from the last site.

For programs in the U.S. that offer free airfare, we will meet you at the airport. For all other programs in the U.S., you are responsible for getting to the starting location of the program. Months before your program, we’ll send you detailed information and options for how to get to the starting location on your own.

How do I get to the airport at the end of my program?

For International programs, if you purchase your airfare through us and will be departing on the last day of your program (not leaving early or staying later), we will get you to the airport at the end of your program. We’ll include details in your final information packet. If you purchase airfare on your own, you’ll need to make your own arrangements to depart from the last site.

For programs in the U.S. that offer free airfare, we will get you to the airport at the end of the program. For all other programs in the U.S., you are responsible for getting back to the airport on your own.

Can someone help me with my bags?

We don’t include porterage in the cost of our programs. However, typically, porter service is available at every airport — both domestically and internationally.
