Eric Rubin
Ambassador Eric Rubin was elected President of the American Foreign Service Association (AFSA) after his recent posting as U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria. Joining the Foreign Service in 1985 after graduating from Yale, he started as a political and human rights officer in Honduras. He was assigned to the State Department’s Operations Center and worked in the Office of Soviet Union Affairs. He then served as security affairs officer for Central and Eastern Europe. Rubin left Washington in 1994 for Kiev, Ukraine, as Deputy Political Counselor.

Philip Shull is a retired senior diplomat and a senior consultant, expert witness, author, and speaker on China, international trade, food security, and economic/market development. He is a native of Wooster, Ohio and was educated in the U.S, India, and Switzerland. He received his bachelor’s from Miami University (Ohio) and his master’s from Stanford. He served as a diplomat for over 30 years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Mr. Shull is an experienced trade negotiator on bilateral and multilateral agricultural and food safety issues.

John W. Limbert, as Chargé d’Affaires of the American Embassy in Khartoum, directed the United States Mission in steering bilateral relations with Sudan from the beginning of its new Government of National Unity sworn in July 9, 2005. Formerly Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania (2000-2003) during a time of increasing cooperation between the two countries, the U.S. Chargé in Khartoum has been assigned responsibility for Sudan at a critical time in the relationship now between his country and the largest country in Africa.

Minimal walking within the hotel for some lectures and all meals. Appropriate program for those with mobility devices such as walkers and canes. Handicap rooms are limited. Handicap accessible shuttles to classes and entertainment are available to events outside the hotel. Additional walking around the grounds during free time according to personal choice.
