Did you know that about 95% of Madagascar’s reptiles and 89% of its plant life are found nowhere else in the world? With many unique and endemic species, Madagascar is an incredibly biodiverse place that offers a myriad of opportunities to learn about flora and fauna. During this safari adventure on the world’s fourth largest island, explore the diverse areas of Andasibe-National Park, Isalo National Park and the Nosy Be archipelago. Each of these natural wonders offers opportunities to search for wildlife like lemurs, chameleons and the elusive fossa and experience different ecosystems on land and in the ocean. Local experts will elaborate on each area’s biodiversity, conservation efforts and the country’s various ethnic groups. Tsima Tanjondrainy Raharijaona, known as Ta, is a highly respected Malagasy group leader, cultural ambassador, and wildlife photographer. Since 2007, he has been crafting immersive journeys that highlight Madagascar’s remarkable landscapes, extraordinary biodiversity, and vibrant cultural traditions. He has pursued advanced training in Kenya and South Africa, strengthening his expertise in guiding and wildlife interpretation. Ta’s specialties span Malagasy cultural heritage, primatology, and wildlife photography, and luxury travel.
Rakotosalama Hery Nirina, known as “Harry,” has nurtured a passion for nature and Malagasy culture since childhood. Before becoming a naturalist guide, he worked as a project agent for MADWA, an organization dedicated to preserving Madagascar’s traditional crafts. Since 1999, Harry has led a wide range of travel, including wildlife, cultural, and birdwatching expeditions. In 2017, he received the prestigious Wanderlust World Guide Award, recognizing his professionalism and expertise in interpreting Madagascar’s exceptional biodiversity.
Alaoy Lova Idriss holds a graduate degree in tourism and hospitality from the Institute of Tourism and Hostelry of Antananarivo, as well as a Certificate of Study Abroad from the Institute for the Conservation of Tropical Environments. He has worked as a consultant for the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Lova is fluent in English, French, and Malagasy, and has led groups in Madagascar and Kenya. Lova discovered his deep passion for nature during independent fieldwork in Ranomafana National Park.
Tahiana Lalaina Rakotoharinavalona was born and raised in Antananarivo, the capital city of Madagascar. After completing a scientific high school degree, he studied physics and chemistry at the University of Antananarivo before specializing in gemology. He graduated from the Gemological Association of Great Britain in London, becoming an International Gemstone Expert in 2009. Tahiana later entered the travel industry, and has over a decade of experience leading trekking, cycling, and photography trips across Madagascar.
