Madagascar is a beautiful place with many fascinating things to see. This program gives you a nice mix of different areas of the country. From the capital, Antananarivo, in the highlands you travel to the rain forest in the East, the canyonlands in the South, and a beach area in the North (Nosy Be). Our guide, Tahiana, was very knowledgeable about the country and the wildlife that we encountered. He made the logistics look easy. We had a number of local guides who were also very good. The hotels and meals were excellent. It was a very busy program and it earned the "Let's Go" label. There is a lot of hiking and uneven steps so this is not a program for anyone who has mobility issues. It is best to do a some training for this trip because it is physically demanding. Knowing a little French is beneficial. The biggest downside to the trip is air travel. There are not a lot of flights and they like to leave in the middle of the night. Our return flight was cancelled twice and I feared that they would change it again while we were there. Explore was amazing in helping us with the changes. Airfare is also quite expensive. It was a great adventure and we are so glad we make the trip.

Madagascar should be mandatory on everyone's bucket list.
This country is stunning in its' nature, biodiversity, food, people and lodging. Road Scholar hit it out of the ballpark, on every one of these.
The lemurs are definitely a creature you want to sneak in your pocket and suitcase, but look and see, but no touching! The lizards and geckos take places farther down from the lemur's but wonderful to watch and so many amazing colors. You can't miss the Zebu, either in a field, herd, or on your dinner plate.
This trip was so well organized. Guide was so full of knowledge and experience, He managed to find every living creature on a leaf, under a rock, or in the trees. Weather was perfect. Only seemed to rain when we were indoors. I guess our guide had a direct connection to the Gods.
I can't say enough about Madagascar, but get off that couch or cellphone, and go!

The Best of Madagascar: A Biodiversity Hotspot is an amazing trip! Seeing lemurs and other wildlife in the wild was incredible. Some of the hikes were off trail and a bit strenuous, but well worth it. Harry was a fabulous guide and made a wonderful experience even better.

Great tour. Tour guide was the best. But u need to work on more “fluid” starts and ends. Arriving at midnight when the program starts the next morning and having over 24 hours between tour end and flight home

Madagascar is a hidden gem, well worth the time and effort to visit. As a developing country, it has infrastructure challenges with an upcoming tourism industry, requiring your flexibility. The hotels are modern, the food plentiful, especially their national food, zebu meat! Vegetarians will have a fair amount of alternate choices. The north, Nosey Be, is hot and humid, while the south, Isalo, is warm and dry. You'll spend a fair amount of time hiking through jungles in search of lemurs, chameleons, and other wildlife. The hikes can be challenging as some are not on established trails. The history and tribal cultural traditions are fascinating. This adventure is a great overview that begs for further discovery.

Madagascar is such a diverse and exhilarating place to visit!! Do not miss it!! We were in jungles, in deserts and rocky environments and in tropical lush beaches!! We traveled in 4x4 vehicles, in a small charter Cessna Caravan, in speed boats, in local commercial airlines and had wonderful adventures in night expeditions!
