Hold on to your helmets! Deep in the heart of Minnesota’s Northwoods, you and your grandchild will experience some of the most exciting sports this side of the Mississippi River. White water rafting, archery, rock climbing and a ropes challenge course are just a taste of your outdoor fun as you venture through the lush greenery on your next learning adventure. Keep an eye out for all the wildlife that inhabit the woods and learn about their environment from expert naturalists. After the day’s lessons and thrills, relax by the crackling fire where you can tell stories of the adventures that you’ll always share with your grandchild.

Bryan Wood has been the executive director of the Osprey Wilds Environmental Learning Center since 2009. Bryan is also an adjunct professor at Hamline University in their natural sciences and environmental education master's program. Bryan has been working with Road Scholar since 2007.
Amy Heuskinvelt is the fellowship coordinator at Osprey Wilds, where she acts as lead educator for K-12 schools. Amy has over a decade of experience in environmental education with federal, state, and nonprofit organizations.

Learn About Activity Levels
Hiking up to 3 miles per day over paved walkways and trails with tree roots, rocks and occasional inclines. Standing between 4 to 8 hours per day; no more than 1 hour at a time. Program will require approximately 8 miles of walking over 4 days. Extent and duration of walking during free time is according to personal choice. Program includes rock climbing on 2 days (33 foot indoor wall and 100 foot outdoor quarry), flatwater canoeing on 1 day, high ropes course on 1 day (up to 40 feet), whitewater rafting on 1 day, and multiple opportunities for swimming. Transportation requires getting in/out of passenger vans several times a day. Due to pacing and activities, this program is not suitable for wheelchairs, scooters, or canes. Must be physically capable of participating in all planned program activities.
