As a child growing up in Utah’s West Desert, Marcia Cooper quickly became familiar with coyotes, scorpions and rattlesnakes. She has spent most of her life in the slickrock country around Moab and Kanab. Marcia attended Dixie State College and the University of Utah and has been affiliated with Road Scholar for more than 20 years. Her enthusiasm for the outdoors is clear when she says "I do the same thing when I am working and when I am not working - hike!"
Rob Krieger has worked at some of the top golf courses in the country with a resume stretching back of 30 years. A Class “A” Member of the PGA of America, he currently teaches at Southgate Golf Corse in St George, Utah. During his tenure, he has been involved in everything from cutting grass to General Manager. Teaching golf is what he enjoys the most about the golf business because he enjoys helping people improve their golf skills.
Patrick Gass holds an associate's degree from Utah Tech University and a bachelor's degree from Southern Utah University. With over 30 years of experience in facilitating foreign educational programs in Southern Utah, Patrick brings a wealth of knowledge in cultural exchange and group travel. His extensive background in leading international groups has enriched countless learning experiences. Outside of his professional life, Patrick is passionate about the outdoors.
Dan Ruemmele was born and raised in Sandusky, Ohio, and was one of five siblings. He later moved to Toledo, where he began a 35-year career with Frito-Lay as a salesman. After retiring, he relocated to St. George, Utah. He now works as a group leader for Road Scholar at Utah Tech. Dan enjoys being around people and listening to their stories about the incredible places they’ve traveled.
Activity Level
Outdoor: Spirited
Golf lessons include about 6 hours of standing. Program will require participants to play 9 or 18 holes of golf daily. Riding in a motorcoach for up to 90 miles or up to 2 hours. Hiking up to 1.5 miles on mostly paved trails with some uneven slippery terrain. Elevations up to 6,500 feet. Must be physically capable of participating in all planned program activities. Golf instruction is for all skill levels.
