Duration

In the final lecture of this three-part series, Dr. Spencer Jones explores the Battle of El Alamein, one of the most decisive Allied victories of World War II. Beginning on October 23, 1942, British and Commonwealth forces launched a massive offensive that ultimately broke Rommel's army and ended the Axis threat to Egypt. Learn how this hard-fought campaign reshaped the war in North Africa and inspired Winston Churchill's famous declaration that it was "not the beginning of the end, but the end of the beginning."
