NOTE: We advise participants to take the time to have two additional (2"x2") passport pictures taken and carry them with you to the Middle East. The reason behind the suggestion of additional pictures is because U.S. citizens are required to use a different size picture for their passports than what is normally taken in the Middle East and if you happen to lose your passport, it will save endless hassles in applying for a new one. Sea conditions affect the progress of the ship, making it run late and sometimes miss ports because it is not safe to dock. Because of this, the cruise itinerary should always be regarded as provisional. The operators reserve the right to change the content of excursions without prior notice. The time available in each port is set by the cruise line. This may mean that free time in port is limited. Regardless of the time in port, Road Scholar delivers a robust educational program.

Egypt

• Your passport must have 1 blank passport page(s) for entry/exit visas in this country.

• A travel visa is required and it may be obtained upon arrival.

• The cost of this visa is not included in the cost of your trip.

• You’ll receive detailed information about your required entry documents in the information packet we send after you enroll.

Please note: For all guests arriving and leaving with vessel, visa is obtained onboard for a fee.

Jordan

• Your passport must have 1 blank passport page(s) for entry/exit visas in this country.

• A travel visa is required and it may be obtained upon arrival.

• The cost of this visa is not included in the cost of your trip.

Please note: A travel visa is required for this country and must be obtained upon arrival at Amman's Queen Alia International Airport. The visa fee is about $60 USD, payable only in local currency. There are ATMs and exchange offices available. This information pertains to participants holding U.S. passports. Non-U.S. Citizens should check entry and visa requirements both, for Jordan and Egypt.

If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Getting to the site: Participants that have arranged their airfare through Road Scholar, and are arriving on the designated arrival date of the program will receive an arrival transfer. Please note, if you did not book your air through Road Scholar, you will NOT be able to join a transfer. End of Trip: After breakfast; 10:00 a.m. hotel check-out.

Getting to the airport: Participants that arranged their airfare through Road Scholar, and are departing on the designated departure date of the program will receive a departure transfer. Please note, if you did not book your air through Road Scholar, you will NOT be able to join a transfer. Participants not taking the transfer can ask the hotel for help getting a taxi.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Participants who have not purchased airfare through Road Scholar are responsible for making their own transfer arrangements to the first site at the beginning of the program, as well as from the last site at the end of the program. The Information Packet Road Scholar sends in advance of the program includes details needed to make your transfer arrangements. If you wish to purchase airfare through Road Scholar, please call (800) 241-1404. Please note: In the unlikely event Road Scholar must make changes to the program's arrival or departure details, we will notify all participants as soon as possible. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
