At 23, William Randolph Hearst became publisher of the San Francisco Examiner after his father won it in a high-stakes poker game. He went on to launch a media empire that would reshape American journalism and politics. Hearst also served two terms in Congress and built a 90,000 square foot castle along 16 miles of California coastline. Join best-selling author and historian James Dalessandro as he traces Hearst’s rise — from pioneering "yellow journalism" in his vicious rivalry with Joseph Pulitzer to his mutually destructive media attack against Orson Welles' film "Citizen Kane."
