For over a century, the ships of the coastal express have been the lifeline of Norway, connecting the remote communities scattered along its breathtaking, rugged shore. Now, you can join this legendary voyage. With a Road Scholar lecturer and a small group of fellow learners, you’ll board the MS Nordkapp to journey deep into the Arctic Circle. As you sail, watch the landscape transform from the charming Art Nouveau architecture of Alesund to the stark, luminous beauty of the far north. Trace the paths of Viking kings, witness the enduring traditions of Arctic cultures and feel the thrill of venturing toward the top of the continent. Framed by the iconic Seven Mountains of Bergen, this is a journey into the very heart of Norwegian coastal life.
Best of all, you'll...
  • Explore Trondheim, Norway’s original capital, and join an expert to discover the legacy of its Viking founders inside the magnificent Nidaros Cathedral.
  • Immerse yourself in Norway’s rich history, from the Viking sagas in Trondheim — the city founded by a king in 997 A.D. — and learn about the enduring culture of the indigenous Sami people firsthand.
  • Discover the maritime heritage of Bergen, the historic gateway to the fjords, cradled by its iconic Seven Mountains as you sail one of the world’s most beautiful coastlines.
