For centuries, the Mekong River has been the lifeline of empires, a source of legend and a frontier between nations. On this grand expedition, you’ll journey into the heart of Southeast Asia to uncover the secrets of its ancient kingdoms. Stand in the shadow of the Khmer Empire at the awe-inspiring temples of Angkor Wat, then fly to the Laotian city of Luang Prabang to embark on a rare voyage. Aboard the intimate Mekong Star, you’ll venture along the less-traveled upper Mekong, a waterway few outsiders ever see. Accompanied by a local expert, you’ll discover remote villages and unravel the history of the Lanna Kingdom in Thailand’s Golden Triangle. This is an expedition into the past, a journey into culture and an adventure you’ll never forget.

Activity Level
Keep the Pace
Walking up to 2 miles per day at a moderate pace of 2 mph over uneven terrain. Standing up to 2 hours per day. Program will require approximately 3 miles of walking over 5 days while at the Angkor Temples, the town of Luang Prabang and the city of Chiang Mai. There will stairs without railings at the ancient sites and temple visit. Walker and canes are not permissible. The ship does not have an elevator. Must be physically capable of participating in all planned program activities.
