For centuries, the Mekong River has been the lifeline of empires, a source of legend and a frontier between nations. On this grand expedition, you’ll journey into the heart of Southeast Asia to uncover the secrets of its ancient kingdoms. Stand in the shadow of the Khmer Empire at the awe-inspiring temples of Angkor Wat, then fly to the Laotian city of Luang Prabang to embark on a rare voyage. Aboard the intimate Mekong Star, you’ll venture along the less-traveled upper Mekong, a waterway few outsiders ever see. Accompanied by a local expert, you’ll discover remote villages and unravel the history of the Lanna Kingdom in Thailand’s Golden Triangle. This is an expedition into the past, a journey into culture and an adventure you’ll never forget.
Best of all, you'll...
  • Unravel the mysteries of the ancient Khmer Empire as you explore the magnificent, jungle-clad temples of Angkor Wat with an expert.
  • Venture into the heart of Laos on a rare voyage along the less-traveled upper Mekong River, discovering remote villages and breathtaking landscapes.
  • Immerse yourself in the living culture of Northern Thailand’s Lanna Kingdom, from meeting with monks in Chiang Mai to an educational visit to an elephant sanctuary.
