  • Get a taste of local life through evenings spent in Colorado’s smaller towns experiencing museums, restaurants and hot springs.
  • Discuss human impact on the region with ranchers, farmers and conservationists, including topics like water rights and usage, mining and land degradation and forest management.
  • Explore the gems of southern Colorado, including the Garden of the Gods, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and Great Sand Dunes National Park, and learn about their ongoing preservation.

Walking up to 4 miles per day at a moderate pace of 2 mph over paved, unpaved, packed earth, and uneven terrain with inclines and elevation gains up to 200 feet. Some trails have no shade. Program will require approximately 16 miles of walking over 7 days. Standing up to 1 hour per day. Must be able to carry a liter of water on trails. Coach buses are used for transportation and require up to 5 hours of driving (270 miles) at a time with breaks. This program covers over 700 miles in total. Elevations begin at 6,000 feet and go up to 12,000 feet. Must be physically capable of participating in all planned program activities.
