The Malay Peninsula is a remarkable melting pot — home to cultures that have been shaped by myriad influences over the centuries. Early engagement with India and China, later the arrival of Islam, and then the colonial presence of the British, Dutch and Portuguese vying for the lucrative spice trade all have made their mark. On this rewarding learning adventure, explore Bangkok’s magnificent Grand Palace and Wat Po temple, and glide through its klongs (canals). Delve into the colonial history of Kuala Lumpur as well as its modern side, exemplified by the soaring Petronas Towers. Marvel at Singapore’s transformation from a gritty trading port into a high-tech metropolis. All along the way, you’ll be immersed in the art, architecture, music and cuisine of these fascinating cultures!
Best of all, you'll...
  • Explore Bangkok’s Wat Po temple, home to the magnificent 151-foot Reclining Buddha statue.
  • Enjoy a cooking class in Phuket.
  • Take in the street art and excellent food on a walking tour of Malaysia’s George Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
