From schools to salsa dancing — spend a week immersed in the culture and local life of Guatemala and deepen your understanding of this country through service learning. Join children in their schools in the mornings and learn with them as you practice English together, and in the afternoons, experience the day-to-day life in and around the architecturally rich city of Quetzeltenango. Through explorations of local towns and churches, lectures about the Guatemalan Civil War and immersive cooking and salsa dancing lessons, you’ll come away with a vivid picture of Guatemala’s past and present, enriched by personal interactions with its people.
Best of all, you'll...
  • Take part in meaningful conversations and cultural exchange by practicing English at a local school.
  • Explore the renowned market of Chichicastenango, a vibrant environment filled with Indigenous art, textiles and food.
  • Set sail for a boat excursion on Lake Atitlán and enjoy the lake’s natural beauty and surrounding volcanos.
