You’d be picturing Oman, the setting for this engaging learning adventure. Begin your journey in the capital, Muscat, a picturesque coastal city home to Oman’s largest and most important Islamic place of worship. Continue learning in Salalah, the heart of the ancient frankincense trade, where the revered resin has been harvested for over 5,000 years. Get a taste of Oman’s natural wonders from the Dhofar Mountains and their and soaring peaks to the windblown desert dunes in Wahiba Sands. Search for sea turtles and learn about shipbuilding traditions in Sur and delve into history at the archaeological sites of Bat and Wadi Al-Ayn, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. All along the way, enjoy opportunities to immerse yourself in Oman’s local life and experience its culture.

Walking up to 3 miles per day at a moderate pace of 2 mph over mixed terrain, including uneven and unpaved surface, stairs, and sand dunes. Standing up to 2 hours per day. Program will require approximately 30 miles of walking over 12 days. This program includes an optional camel ride. Participants should be prepared to navigate hot weather conditions, sometimes with little or no shade, stairs with and without handrails, and be comfortable sitting in an SUV for 1 – 6 hours with stops. Due to unavoidable stairs and traversing over sections of uneven natural terrain, wheelchairs and scooters cannot be accommodated on this program. Must be physically capable of participating in all planned program activities.
