There’s far more to Florida’s Gulf Coast and Keys than beautiful, sandy beaches. Delve into the region’s vibrant art scene, its rich history and natural spaces on this inspiring look at Southern Florida! Begin in Tampa with an exploration of the city's historic and vibrant Ybor neighborhood, and a visit to the Chihuly Collection to celebrate world-renowned art. Sail on to Marco Island, where a pontoon adventure reveals the Everglades and the enchanting Ten Thousand Islands. In Key West, explore the Little White House and enjoy a cultural pass to the island’s arts and history. Wrap up your voyage in Punta Gorda with an excursion to the Peace River Botanical & Sculpture Garden and local museums before returning to St. Petersburg to wander the lush Sunken Gardens.

Amy is a passionate science communicator and educator, serving as the director of development for Schoolyard Films, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to providing K-12 students and teachers with high-quality natural history films and study guides.

Jenny Peterson has been a Road Scholar leader since 2009, and has led over 80 programs including Signature City, Grandparent/Grandchild, National Park, and Afloat programs. Jenny hails from Minnesota originally, but now is a Florida resident. However, most of her Road Scholar programs are in California, so she splits her time almost equally between these three states. She celebrated her 40th wedding anniversary in 2023, and has four grown children. Her hobbies include travel, walking, biking, and playing bridge.

Learn About Activity Levels
Walking up to 3 miles per day at a moderate pace of 2 mph over various types of terrain. Program will require approximately 15 miles of walking over 10 days. Standing up to 3 hours per day. Must be able to use stairs, often without handrails. Due to the pacing, unavoidable stairs, and many field trips that cannot be completed with certain mobility devices, wheelchairs and scooters cannot be accommodated on this program. Must be physically capable of participating in all planned program activities.
