At a Glance
Do you dream of exploring Iceland’s natural wonders and the magnificent fjords of Greenland? Visit two of the world’s most renowned frozen islands on one learning adventure as you embark on the expedition voyage of a lifetime. Explore Reykjavik’s Golden Circle — home to the historic Thingvellir National Park, the Gullfoss waterfall and active Strokkur geyser — before boarding your vessel and setting sail for Greenland’s western coast. From there, experience the Ilulissat Icefjord (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the Uummannaq Fjord, and discover what these regions have to teach us about icecap glaciology, human history and climate change. Your journey will conclude in Reykjavik, where you’ll have an evening to explore the city and reflect on your full taste of the landscapes and people of Iceland and Greenland.
Activity Level
Let's Go!
Walking up to three miles per day in Arctic conditions including snow, ice and rocky uneven terrain. Climbing stairs between decks on board as well as external gangway stairs to transfer between the ship and Zodiacs. Most embarkations and disembarkations will be via Zodiac, which requires stepping up or down approximately 12 inches. Zodiac landings will generally entail disembarking onto rocky or gravelly beaches and, in windy weather, can make for rather splashy rides. There is the potential for rough seas with ship movement. Expedition activities include expert-led hikes, extended Zodiac voyages and snowshoeing.
Best of all, you’ll…
- Marvel at the colossal glaciers of Disko Bay as you get up close to them via Zodiac.
- Visit remote Saqqaq communities in western Greenland to learn about local life.
- Enjoy 24 hours of sunlight as you experience the Midnight Sun above the Arctic Circle.
