Experience Cilento during the quiet season, when mild Mediterranean days and peaceful villages reveal a more intimate side of southern Italy. Based along the coast in Santa Maria di Castellabate, explore medieval hill towns, remarkable archaeological sites and landscapes shaped by centuries of rural life. Meet local residents, learn about regional traditions and discover how history, community and the natural environment continue to shape daily life in this lesser-known corner of Italy. Along the way, explore the Greek temples of Paestum, the Pertosa Caves and the Certosa di Padula, and experience Cilento's rich culinary traditions through wine and olive oil tastings, a hands-on cooking lesson and a visit to a buffalo farm.
Best of all, you'll...
  • Walk the medieval streets of Castellabate and Teggiano, where local residents share the traditions, crafts and rural way of life that define the region.
  • Explore the Greek temples of Paestum, cross an underground river in the Pertosa Caves and discover the monumental Certosa di Padula.
  • Experience the flavors of Cilento through wine and olive oil tastings, a hands-on cooking lesson, fresh buffalo mozzarella and the region's prized white figs.
