Professor John Cerone holds faculty appointments at The Fletcher School-Tufts University, American University-Washington College of Law, and the University of London. As a practicing international lawyer, he has worked for numerous IGOs and NGOs, served as Special Adviser to the first U.S. delegation to the U.N. Human Rights Council, and has extensive field experience in conflict and post-conflict environments. He has taught in more than 40 countries around the world and is the author of dozens of articles and book chapters on international law.
Matthew Palczynski is an art history lecturer, consultant, curator, and educator. With a Ph.D. in art history and a focus on vanguard art after around 1850, he leads programs for academic, corporate, and nonprofit organizations around the world. His talks include those for Renaissance Weekend, Stanford University, The Wharton School, and United Airlines. Matt is an Adjunct Senior Instructor at The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, and has taught at the Tyler School of Art since 2004.
Sinisa Diklic started working in travel at the age of 17 while studying law at Zagreb University. He was a sport animator and resort representative before becoming a group leader. After residing in London and the Costa del Sol, Sinisa now in lives in Zagreb, Croatia. He is fluent in Croatian, English, Spanish, and Italian, and is interested in history, cultures, arts, music, food, tennis, and skiing.
Tommy Hatwell—born in Plymouth, England—has lived, worked, and photographed all over the globe. In 2017, he completed his B.A. with honors in commercial photography and was shortlisted for the prestigious Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery in London. Tommy brings both creative expertise and global experience to his role as both creative instructor and Road Scholar Group Leader. Having traveled extensively, he understands the transformative power of cultural exchange and shared learning.
Ruth Polling graduated at the top of her class as the London Blue Badge Travel Educator of the Year and has since been sharing her knowledge of London with curious travelers. London born and bred, she is energetic and passionate about her city and country and sharing their stories. Ruth graduated from the London School of Economics and previously worked in politics for 11 years, both in the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
Andrew Russell was born in Cape Town in 1964. He attended Bishops College, graduating in 1982. He then completed his studies at the University of Cape Town before doing two years of national service. He taught accounting at the high school level before starting his own tourism businesses. In February 2026, Andrew published 'Mandela’s Last Prison Guard – Fourteen Months at Victor Verster,' the first book covering this period from the perspective of Jack Swart, the warder who cared for and cooked for Nelson Mandela.
Kit Chapman is a globe-trotting adventurer and historian based at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. Kit has been down the Amazon, into the tombs of Pharaohs, and crossed the Silk Road across Asia, all to find the greatest stories of how scientific discoveries have shaped our world. Kit has a Ph.D. in the history of element discovery and has written for New Scientist, National Geographic, and BBC Science Focus, among others. In 2022, he gave the anniversary lecture for the Royal Institution of Great Britain.
Katy Chamberlain is a geologist and volcanologist, who specializes in the interpretation of pre-eruptive magmatic evolution using geochemical analyses of erupted products. She currently holds the position of lecturer in igneous petrology at the University of Liverpool in the UK. Katy has worked all over the world, studying super-eruptive processes in the Bishop Tuff (USA), ocean island volcanism at Ascension Island and the Canary Islands, and subduction zones processes in the Southern Volcanic Zone of Chile.
Greg Fealy is emeritus professor at the Australian National University in Canberra and has spent 40 years studying Southeast Asia’s history, politics, and religion. He specializes in Indonesian Islamic politics and culture, publishing extensively on these topics. He was an intelligence analyst for the Australian government and has worked as a consultant on Indonesian development projects. He received an Order of Australia (AM) in 2022 for services to Australia-Indonesia relations.

Walking up to 2 miles per day over both paved and cobblestone streets. Standing up to 1 hour per day. The London portion of the program will require approximately 6 miles of walking over 4 days. Many theaters and historic buildings have no elevators, are not accessible, and may not have handrails available. Due to a lack of ADA room availability in accommodations, wheelchairs, walkers and scooters cannot be accommodated on this program. Must be physically capable of participating in all planned program activities.
