From polar bears, caribou and grizzlies to bowhead whales, microscopic zooplankton and phytoplankton, let’s go on a wildlife adventure in the Arctic, Subarctic and Temperate Rainforest regions of Alaska! Alaska is 20% of the land mass of the United States, and its location on top of North America provides a unique environment for astonishing species of wildlife. Join expert Jerri Roberts for the first segment of this three part series, and get to know wildlife in Alaska. This lecture will focus on Arctic Alaska — the annual migration destination for millions of birds from around the world and year-round home to well-adapted polar bears, bowhead whales and other fascinating species.

Jerri Roberts has been a Road Scholar Study Leader in Alaska on programs in the Arctic, Interior, and Southeast. She has a broad perspective on Alaska’s wildlife and natural history in all of these regions. She has also been an instructor at the Denali Education Center. Jerri has lived in Denali Park for 20 years. She worked as an Interpretive Park Ranger introducing the wonders of the wilderness to thousands of Park visitors on discovery hikes, theater programs, campground programs, and sled dog demonstrations.
