Delve into the origins and traditions of the world’s five major faiths — Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism — during a fascinating, five-day online learning adventure. With Dr. Brian Carwana, religion expert and Executive Director of the Encounter World Religions Centre, spend each day studying a new religion and engaging in discussion with other religious instructors who offer a look into their own faith and beliefs. Learn how each religion has changed through time and what it means to be a modern-day follower. Throughout your learning adventure, get to know your fellow Road Scholars as you engage together in thoughtful discussion and Q&A sessions.

General Notes
You’ll enjoy 2-3 hours of daily instruction, discussion and/or field trips, which includes sufficient breaks throughout the program. This online program is through Zoom, an easy-to-use web video service that includes closed captioning. All you need is an Internet connection and your computer. We’ll provide a how-to guide to make sure you’ll have a hassle-free experience. This session is offered live only and will not be available on demand. Please review the daily itinerary for start and end times to ensure you won’t miss a minute of this live experience. All times are listed in the EASTERN time zone. If you live in a different time zone, please adjust your schedule accordingly.

Brian Carwana
Brian Carwana left a business career to follow his passion for world religious and spiritual traditions. He acquired a practical education by listening to religious leaders, visiting houses of worship, and observing services. He also earned a Ph.D. in religion from the University of Toronto. He is now the executive director of Encounter World Religions Centre, an educational organization promoting religious literacy and informed understanding of cultural diversity.
