Location: Sevilla
Vincci La Rábida Hotel is special because it has been designed from the departure point of an 18th century palatial home located in the city centre. Just a stone’s throw from the Cathedral of Seville and the “La Maestranza” Bullring. It is very well connected to the main access roads and is just a short walk from the city’s commercial district and various landmarks. The hotel is in the Barrio del Arenal neighbourhood, which is well-known for its restaurants that offer the famous “tapas” from Seville.

The main building dazzles by its construction typology with vaulted ceilings and round arches, with magnificent views of the village and the surrounding mountains. The Hotel La Casa del Califa is made up of the union of eight different houses dating in ages from the 10th/11th century through to a complete contemporary rebuild of a 17th century property. The site has always been strategic for many reasons; it overlooks the principal medieval access to the town; the properties face the Plaza de España, Vejer’s largest flat open space ideal for markets & cultural events; the house is very close to Vejer’s principal gateway (Arco de la Villa). The original road into Vejer (its origins may be Roman or even Phoenecian) arrives at the foot of the Casa del Juzgado (the local popular name for what is now the principal façade of the hotel). Staying at the Califa is like staying at a large private house with multiple levels, corridors & courtyards dividing up the eight houses that make up the hotel of varying ages & architectural styles. There is a degree of intimacy in whichever part of the hotel you are staying in.

Please correct your itinerary to delete the guitar craftsman visit and the stay at the convent. Neither of these were part of the trip. I would have liked an additional half day in Grazalema. I also suggest that the winery visit be eliminated as the tour was not at all enlightening. Instead I suggest a farewell brunch/luncheon and additional time in Seville instead of the late (9 pm start) farewell dinner that made it difficult to prepare for early departures the following day. With the exception of the winery guide, all the other guides were outstanding in their knowledge and presentations.

Southern Spain is unique and beautiful, with a fascinating history, and the tour was a convenient way to see the highlights. The tour was well organized, comfortable, and educational. We greatly enjoyed it, especially the cathedral and alcazar in Sevilla, the mosque in Cordoba, and a paella cooking class! Flying into Seville is difficult. We flew direct to Madrid on our own, stayed overnight there, and took a fast train to Seville to join the tour, returning to Madrid at the end to fly home. Given the horror stories I heard from others about the flights, I highly recommend doing it our way.

An amazing trip that will introduce you to places that other visitors to Andalusia never see. We journeyed into the mountains and stayed in two different small villages that have history going back to the 700s when Spain was ruled by the Moors. This program also incorporates cities and towns such as Seville, Rondo and Cordoba which were very interesting but the villages made this trip unique. Can't recommend it enough.

The best parts of the Andalusian White Villages Program this winter were the excellent guide Lucia Gonzalez, and the Flamenco performance. Both were awesome! Thanks so much for your delightful program!

This was a fabulous trip with a wonderful variety of experiences and learning. Lucia, our guide, was terrific. Nice mixture of city and country, experiential and lectures. Hghlights: flamenco performance, paella class, Cordoba, olive oil producer, Contemporary Spain lecture.

First RS trip. Was everything I hoped for and more than I expected. The group lead was fantastic. Looking forward to more adventures. TY
