My husband and I found so many things to like about this trip. The majesty and variety of the landscapes, geology and wildlife in the park. Friendly, knowledgeable guides Mike and Bobby and ultra-efficient & also knowledgeable support person David. Congenial travel group split into 2 comfortable vans for touring each day. Pleasant accommodations and good meals throughout. The delicious picnic lunches at scenic spots daily were especially nice. We truly appreciated that excellent coffee (cream too!) was always available for the early morning starts and throughout the day. Water & snack bars too. For us, this tour was the best way to get the most out of our first visit to Yellowstone Park. No regrets. Highly recommend.
Note from Robert: Thank you, Bobby and Mike. Your depth of knowledge, kindness, and thoughtful planning made our Yellowstone trip truly unforgettable! We deeply appreciate everything you did to make the experience so special.

Really wonderful tour. Our Guides, Bobby and David were professional, experienced and knowledgeable. As well informed and educated as any my wife and I have toured with. We had only one Road Scholar tour before but have done numerous tours with professional birders and guides. These guys and Casey were marvelous. The accommodations, both vans and motels were excellent, meals pleasant, especially the picnic lunches. The Grand Tetons and Yellowstone were as lovely and exciting as promised. We saw all the wildlife one could hope for, most of it up close and personal, including a Pika almost close enough to pet. The group was congenial, experiences were shared, and the entire trip was well worth it. Thanks to our guides and the Road Scholar organization for making this a fond memory and an adventure to share!

We are just back from a fabulous visit to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone with Road Scholar, our 2nd trip. We'll be on another adventure soon. Only hoping for guides as great as the Teton Scientific ones who led this trip.
— Review left October 8, 2024
The beautiful scenery and wildlife experiences are exceptional. The guides made this one of my favorite Road Scholar trips.
— Review left October 7, 2024
The first Road Scholar trip, "Wildlife Watching in the Grand Teton & Yellowstone National Parks" was filled with moments of awes, surprises and tears on my cheeks. Unforgettable, spectacular, and majestic demonstrations of wild lives in the national parks.
Lots of learning and reflections to digest to become a better citizen myself to safeguard the wild. The instructors were knowledgeable, thoughtful, particularly concerning about individual capacities of the participants.
Thank you so much!
— Review left October 7, 2024
Wonderful trip! If you are looking to see animals in their native surroundings this will give it to you.
— Review left September 25, 2024
This program was outstanding in so many ways: knowledge of leaders, attention to detail, personal care given to each individual. Excellent!!
— Review left September 23, 2024
There was so much to learn and so much to see. Program guides (Bobby and Roger) were a font of knowledge that never seemed to run dry. The animals and the scenery were so awesome we didn't mind getting up at 0-dark-thirty every day. And I think we experienced every kind of weather -- sun, rain, sleet, snow, and cold cold cold. Bring lots of layers if you go in late summer-early fall.
— Review left September 14, 2024
We experienced a truly exceptional trip, featuring diverse wildlife and breathtaking scenery, led by guides possessing profound passion and expertise.
— Review left September 8, 2024
I absolutely loved this trip. The scenery was stunning and the wildlife viewing was incredible. We saw bisons; elk; grizzly mom with cubs; wolves and pups; a pronghorn nursing two calves as they stood underneath her on wobbly newborn legs; coyote; fox; a moose and more. Our guides Bobby and Roger were terrific. They knew just where and what time of day to find the wildlife within the millions of acres of these two glorious national parks. Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons are an incredible treasure and I feel so fortunate to have learned about these great trips Road Scholar provides. Everything was so well planned and organized. Good food, good lodging, very good guides. I Can't say enough about this trip. Thank you Road Scholar! I can't wait for my next adventure with you !

I cannot say enough good things about our guides, Bobby and Mike, as well as our support person, Casey. Bobby and MIke were so knowledgeable on all aspects of the park - the wildlife, the geology, flowers and birds. They shared this knowledge readily and went out of their way to find whatever an individual had expressed as a particular interest. On top of that, they were always watching out for our well-being and safety. It is an incredible trip. I am a solo traveler and, as always, I made new RS friends. I would recommend highly recommend this amazing learning adventure.
— Review left June 24, 2024
I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and will definitely be recommending this to friends.
— Review left June 2, 2024
Wildlife Watching in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks was absolutely amazing! The scenery was spectacular. The best part was seeing all the animals and babies since we were there in the spring. The guides were phenomenal in their knowledge, ability to find animals and their personalities. Very fun.

I was concerned about the weather, being the first trip of the season, but I came well-prepared. We saw winter turn to spring that very week!
— Review left May 29, 2024
This was a fabulous trip! I would highly recommend it. We saw animals in their natural habitat that I could only dream of seeing! Dave, Bobby and Sam were the best!!

Trip of a lifetime !!! Absolutely incredible !!!

This program is excellent for those that want to see wildlife and learn about their habitats and challenges. You will see wildlife behaviors and interactions. At times it felt like watching a Nature special but we were seeing it in real time. Incredible!
— Review left May 19, 2024
Mike and Kevin were excellent guides. I definitely learned a lot about wildlife, Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone. Also, Samantha did an excellent job setting up our lunches and transporting our luggage from one hotel,to another
— Review left May 14, 2024
This was a great trip. They made a short movie of all the animals we saw. I never got any information. On how to get a copy of it. If anyone has any information on how I can get a copy of it. Please let me know. Thanks
— Review left December 27, 2023
This program exceed my expectations for wildlife viewing and understanding the environment of Yellowstone. Our guides, Bobby and Sam made the trip exciting with their passion and knowledge. Be prepared for early ( 530am) starts and long days to get it all in.
— Review left October 5, 2023
This trip had the best, most knowledgeable guides of any of my seven RS trips so far. Kevin, Mike, and Sam made our very early wildlife viewing departures pleasant. I'd like to learn more about the Teton Science School and possibly sign up for another tour they offer. 30 years ago my family visited Yellowstone before the wolves were re-introduced so this visit was outstanding.
— Review left September 25, 2023
This program surpassed my expectations. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and encouraged questions, answering them fully. They were accommodating to the needs and interests of all participants without detracting from the experience of others. The days started early and were full without being too physically demanding. I would highly recommend it.
— Review left September 24, 2023
This program provided an excellent experience in observing diverse wildlife and geology in the natural environment. The guides were phenomenal, extremely knowledgeable and attentive to all participant needs. I would highly recommend this program to anyone having an interest in animals in this ecosystem and animal behavior. I rate the program 10 out of 5 stars!
— Review left September 19, 2023
We just returned home after participating in the Wildlife Watching Tour in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons and were overwhelmingly impressed with the quality of the program and especially with our guides Kevin and Bobby. They were both extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing their expertise of the greater Yellowstone ecosystem. They were also friendly, accommodating and made sure our group’s needs were met every step of the way. We were never sure what wildlife we would see each day but we’re fortunate to see a the Junction Butte wolf pack, a mother grizzly and her two cubs, eagles, black bear, a porcupine walking across the road, moose, pronghorn and elk and more. We would highly recommend this trip for anyone who wants to come away from a visit to Yellowstone with a much fuller understanding of this wonderful national treasure.
— Review left September 10, 2023
I loved everything about my Yellowstone experience. The guides were spectacular. I think it is important to know that if you are not enthusiastic about viewing, grizzlies and wolves, at a great distance through a spotting scope this may not be the trip for you. you have to be patient and sometimes the animals just don’t cooperate.
— Review left September 10, 2023
If you have the inclination to REALLY experience the wealth of wildlife in Yellowstone and Teton, led by guides who live for and cherish that shared experience, this is a life-changer.
— Review left June 11, 2023
The program, "Wildlife Watching in Yellowstone and Grand Tetons," was outstanding. I would compare it to being transported into a National Geographic nature film.

GREAT TRIP. WELL ORGANIZED. EXPERIENCE WAS BETTER THAN
EXPECTED.
WONDERFUL FOCUS ON THE BEAUTY OF OUR NATIONAL PARKS, WITH EXCITING VIEWS OF WILDLIFE IN THEIR NATURAL HABITAT.
MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO TAKE SPECTACULAR PICTURES.
A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF THE TRIP WAS THE STAFF FROM TETON SCIENCE SCHOOLS. THE TEAM WAS EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGABLE AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND. OUR TWO GUIDES, DIFFERENT BUT COMPLIMENTARY, PROVIDED AN OUTSTANDING DESCRIPTION OF ALL THAT WE WERE SEEING. BY BEING FLEXIBLE, THEY WERE ABLE GO TO THE BEST PLACES TO SEE THE NATURAL BRAUTY OF THE PARKS AND THE WILDLIFE.
THIS TEAM SHOULD BE USED FOR ALL FUTURE PROGRAMS IN THIS AREA.

I was so happy with this program! It was everything I had hoped it would be, and more. Our program leaders, Bobby and Miles, were wonderful and greatly enhanced our experience viewing wildlife and geologic wonders of the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. Our logistics/food program leader, Mike, made everything go smoothly, and his food was delicious (especially the cinnamon rolls!!). I would highly recommend this program to anyone.

EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS! KEVIN AND BOBBY, OUR GUIDES, MADE THE WEEK LIKE NO EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD. IT WAS TRANSFORMATIVE. THEY ARE BOTH SO KNOWLEDGEABLE AND ABSOLUTELY PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT THEY DO, ITS SAFE TO SAY THEY LOVE WHERE THEY LIVE AND ALL THAT IT ENCOMPASSES. BOTH WERE KIND AND CONCERNED WITH OUR COMFORT AND ASSURED THAT WE WERE PROVIDED WITH THE BEST EXPERIENCE POSSIBLE.OUR GROUP WAS SMALL BUT MIGHTY, WONDERFUL PEOPLE ALL OF THEM. THE ONLY CAVEAT IS : PAY ATTENTION TO THE DESCCRIPTION TO THE ACTIVITY LEVEL, MOST MORNINGS START 5-6 AM, END ABOUT 4-5PM. YOU REALLY DO GET IN/OUT OF VANS ABOUT 15 TIMES A DAY, AND SURFACES ARE ROCKY, UNEVEN.

A fantastic opportunity to learn about and view the unique scenery and abundant wildlife of the Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. We learned so much in such a short time. I wish the trip was 2-3 days longer so that we could get deeper into the educational data and do more wildlife viewing and see, experience and just plain learn more about the two parks.

Since I was a kid I always wanted to see the "Old Faithful" geyser. Not only was I delighted to see it, I saw many small geysers and thermal fountains! Besides that the beauty of Yellowstone and the Gran Tetons along with all the wild life we saw was awesome. I recommend this program to everyone. Firoz

Knowing these beautiful, unspoiled landscapes are here brings me such joy.

This was a fabulous trip! Tour guides Bobby and Tyler are very passionate wildlife experts who know how to take advantage of teachable moments to create memorable lessons. Their enthusiasm and high energy is very contagious making the days just fly by. They are very skilled in making sure that none of us got hangry by constantly offering us snacks, hot beverages, water, chocolate and even warm cinnamon rolls as well as well placed restroom breaks. Their experience in knowing just where and when the animals eat led us to more wildlife than I've ever seen except in a zoo. Yes, occasionally getting up at 4:30 am to have breakfast with the wolves, elk, pronghorn, bears, moose, deer was really worth it.

Visiting Yellowstone has been a long-term dream and this one exceeded expectations. Bobby, Tyler and Logan were both expert and friendly. I want to go back!

Teton Science School guides made this a wonderful learning experience about the animals, plants, geothermal features. Every detail was taken care of from scopes, field lunches, opening and closing meals, hand warmers. Our guides Kevin and Bobby both have a contagious passion for the environment and ability to relate to people. This was my favorite Road Scholar trip because of their enthusiasm and ability to "go with the flow" of where the
animals might be seen.

This was a wonderful trip with three very enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable leaders who ensured we experienced as much of the wildlife as possible - both animals and birds - and viewed the breathtaking scenery of Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons . Use of viewing scopes was very helpful for the distant wildlife . Photo opportunities were plentiful . Accommodation, transport and meals were of high quality
We were fortunate to enjoy this fantastic week in late May just prior to the devastating floods which ravaged Yellowstone in early June.

Our guide from Teton Science School (TSS) was excellent. His dialogue was engaging and very informative.
The trip however was disappointing in three ways.
One, I had assumed that since Teton Science School had partnered with Yellowstone National Park, and TSS uses off-road travel vans, that there would be some exclusive "off the beaten path" access to Yellowstone's back country. There was not. All travel is on paved park roads and is subject to the same backed up traffic and parking jams.
Two, the scope sightings were what I called "spot the dot". Wolf and grizzly sightings were all at a great distance, through the scope. The scopes allowed you to see some wolves, but they were still very tiny through the scope. Not great viewing.
Three, the pace of the trip with 4 to 5AM risings and ten hour days proved to be grueling. Weather in the spring was very cold. On and off the van went from a warm van to freezing cold outside for many days.
There were some memorial memories, and great information, but I couldn't recommend this trip. Three stars.

Phenomenal small group trip to view wildlife being wild as well as visiting iconic sites in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks

A totally amazing experience. Upon my return to FL, I felt as if I had returned from another planet.
The trip was well planned and led by the Teton Science School. Kevin and Mike, our highly knowledgeable group leaders opened up new worlds of animals, trees, birds, history, and the beauty and awareness of this precious environment. I returned with a new respect for the natural habitats of Grand Teton and Yellowstone.
We were all excited by the amount of wildlife that we viewed every day; up close from the vans, through the high powered binoculars that we each had been given to use for the trip, and through the telescopes that were set up at every out of van animal viewing. Spotters alerted Mike and Kevin to animal sightings, and we were excited to
follow the tips and were rewarded every time. Mid September to mid October seems to be the best time to experience this trip as the crowds are greatly diminished in the parks, the wildlife is at its peak, and the leaves are beginning to turn.
Don't miss this trip!

This was our second time on this trip, and we have no regrets about repeating! Kevin and Mike took such good care of us and proved (again, in Kevin's case) to be generous, knowledgeable, and responsive. Our only regret is that I became ill early in the tour and had to be evacuated to Idaho Falls. Kevin, Mike, and especially Rhiannon helped my husband get transportation to Idaho Falls and then kept in touch with us, even though circumstances kept us from returning to the tour. They treated us like friends, not merely clients. And in the few days we got to participate, we did get wonderful video of bull elk, thermal features, and breathtaking fall foliage. If you've visited the parks in the spring, sign up for fall, too. It's a different, exciting experience.

Phenomenal trip with outstanding leaders; Tyler, Bobby, and Logan from the Teton Science School went the extra mile in every conceivable way. We saw a ton of wildlife and learned so much about history, geology, animals, controversies, initiatives, etc. Highly recommend this program; it was topnotch and very memorable. Wonderful group too; leaders led by example and set the tone for rigor, kindness, friendliness, patience. Go!

This was an incredible experience! Our Teton Science Schools guides were stellar. Their expertise, professinalism, passion for wildlife, kindness, attentiveness and communication really made the trip. Because of them, our group of sixteen participants operated as a cooperative, collaborative and fun team. We saw so much more wildlife than I expected to see - elk, moose, hundreds of bison, pronghorn, deer, a wolf pack, a grizzly bear, two black bears with cubs, coyotes, a fox, swans, bald eagles, a pika . . . I am sure I am forgetting something! Being in the Lamar Valley was a spiritual experience. This is my sixth Road Scholar trip and it is one I am recommending to everyone.

The Road Scholar Yellowstone wildlife tour was one of the best trips I’ve ever taken! The setting was amazing, of course, but the guides made it an awesome experience, one I could not have had on my own. Highly recommended!!

Leaders from the Teton Science School share their passion and knowledge in ways that are inviting, engaging, and encouraging in some of the most beautiful landscapes in America. Enjoy!

We had a great time with Mike, Kevin and Bobby from Teton Science Schools leading the way. We enjoyed the “small group” experience and traveled the 1st week of September. We came home with great photographs and memories. Some experiences could not be captured in a photo like watching the sun come up over the mountains with the sound of wolves howling in the background. Tips: If you are using your cell phone for photos, you might want to buy a small portable battery charger for back up. But if you have a great camera, this is the trip to use it. Check out the weather forecast and pack accordantly. Plan outfits that you can layer. Tennis shoes worked for me. In Jackson, enjoy some huckleberry ice cream and take your picture on the square under the antlers. Five stars.

This was a wonderful trip. Our tour leaders, Tyler and Bobby, were great. They were so good at finding wildlife and helping us to see and understand it. The scenery is gorgeous, the wildlife is impressive and the geology is unbelieveable. Long days, but so worthwhile.

Road Scholar made an excellent choice in Teton Science Schools to lead this adventure. To repeat the words of a previous reviewer, our guides Kevin, Mike and Bobby "were knowledgeable, patient, kind and enthusiastic". What a fun way to learn in a setting of unique beauty. This trip is not for someone who prefers to sit still, but if you like to be on the go - GO!

Each NP trip has gotten better and if one is out there to top this, I've got to go. Yellowstone is awe inspiring. The wildlife was better than I could have hoped for. The guides from TSS were terrific , and lastly I could not have picked a more fun and energetic group to be with. We met a professional wildlife photographer who invited us into his home. We saw the Junction Butte wolf pack, all 23, two mornings in a row. What more can you ask for?

The Yellowstone and Grand Teton Wildlife Trip was a wonderful mix of seeing and learning about the bears, wolves, bison, coyotes and birds of these two areas and opportunities to take photographs that we can enjoy and share. Our guides were top notch and the experiences were certainly worth the trip.

A truly exceptional experience. We were able to view all the animals with their young and learned about them throughout the trip. Paul and Dylan were one of the best guides/instructors that I have had on a Road Scholar experience. If you are interested in learning about animals, seeing them with their young, seeing them interact with their environment-then you will totally do all of this on this program.

Just got back from the wildlife program. Loved every minute of this tour. Have been impressed with all the RS programs I've attended but this was my favorite. We had fabulous weather (but be prepared for cold mornings -- take gloves and hat). There were 12 in our group and we spread out comfortably in two Mercedes 12-passenger vans -- VERY comfy! Food, accommodations were excellent (sorry, but didn't care for the pizza at the farewell pizza party). Our guides were Paul and Dylan and they were the BEST!!! SO interesting with tons of info!! We saw Bison, elk, grizzlies, black bears, pronghorn, moose, wolf packs, some beautiful birds I can't name, and much more. BEAUTIFUL landscape. The field trip picnics were not your typical pre-made sandwich with chips....Mike accompanied us in another van and always had things set up for us when we arrived to eat. He really set out a spread for us...everything was extremely fresh even with hummus (not my thing!), variety of quality meats, fresh variety of salads, different types of bread for sandwiches and REALLY good chips and cookies. He was WELL prepared for those of us who had to be gluten free. Would definitely recommend this program!!!

This was one of our best trips ever! It exceeded our expectations. The wildlife viewing was amazing and included wolves, brown bears, grizzly bears, bison, elk, pronghorn, big horn sheep, mountain goats, numerous birds, etc. The highlight of the trip was following four adult wolves as they made their way through Lamar Valley. Along the way they tried unsuccessfully to snag a baby bison but were charged by the adult bison who the formed a tight circle around all the babies. I have nothing but praise for our outstanding guides, Dylan and Paul. They expertly spotted the wildlife and helped us in using their spotting scopes. They were also flexible to make sure we got the most out of this experience. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who is interested in viewing and/or photographing wildlife.
