During a spectacular outdoor adventure in Maine’s Acadia National Park, experience seaside cliffs, ocean air and breathtaking views atop the highest peak along the Atlantic Coast. Cycle on carriage roads by the sea, past the pines and between the cliffs as you learn more about the region’s unique formation and local diversity. Enjoy the spectacular views and some of the most ideal sea kayaking areas in the world while relaxing in the picturesque Down East town of Bar Harbor.

Ellen Goldsberry is a year-round resident of Mount Desert Island who loves to take advantage of the Park's beauty in every season. She's an ardent hiker and also enjoys biking, kayaking and cross-country skiing. She especially loves sharing her passion for Acadia with others. Her calm demeanor belies a love of adventure.
Lauren Tucker spent years as a marketing executive before returning to her first love, Mount Desert Island. She has extensive knowledge of the island, its wonders and its hidden charms. She enjoys sharing her affinity for the island with Road Scholars.
Bailey Webb is certified as a Wilderness First Responder and a Registered Maine Kayak Guide. Bailey was born in Louisiana and grew up in Kansas and Alaska as part of a USCG family. She graduated from the University of West Florida and built a successful career in commercial real estate before deciding to pivot to the great outdoors. Bailey guided the waters of Seward, Alaska before making the permanent move to Maine. Bailey loves sharing Acadia National Park and its beauty with Road Scholars.

Outdoor: Spirited
Learn About Activity Levels
Hiking up to 5 miles per day over occasionally challenging terrain including roots and granite rocks with elevation gains up to 1300 feet. Standing up to 6 hours per day. Biking up to 18 miles per day on gravel roads with rolling terrain, including hills. Hybrid-style conventional bikes are provided; e-bikes are not permitted. Sea kayaking up to 7 miles per day in tandem kayaks. Participants must be capable of getting in and out of kayaks with reasonable staff assistance. Program will require approximately 8 miles of hiking, 25 miles of biking, 6 miles of kayaking and 5 miles of walking over 6 days. Due to pacing and activities, this program is not suitable for wheelchairs, scooters, walkers or canes. This program is not suitable for beginners; hiking and biking experience is necessary. Sea kayaking experience isn’t required but is encouraged. Must be physically capable of participating in all planned program activities.
