Activity note: Walking around retreat center includes a short steep hill, or some stairs.

Afternoon: Arrival/check in between 4:00 and 4:45 pm. Program Registration. Come over to the Road Scholar table in the meeting room to register with the program staff and get your room assignment, welcome packet containing your name-tag, up-to-date schedule that reflects any last-minute changes, and to learn when and where the Orientation session will take place. If your arrival is delayed, please ask for your packet when you check in. Once settled, you may wish to gather in the dining room for an afternoon snack.

Dinner: In the dining room at the retreat center we’ll enjoy a delicious, mainly organic, vegetarian buffet dinner with coffee, tea and water included at 6:00 pm.

Evening: Orientation at 7:00 pm. The Group Leader will greet everyone with a warm welcome and lead introductions. We will review the up-to-date program schedule and any changes, discuss roles and responsibilities, logistics, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and answer any questions you may have. All meals in the dining room will be buffet style, vegetarian and made up mainly of local organic ingredients. Filtered drinking water, hot water, tea, coffee and fresh fruit are always available. Wi-fi is available in one meeting room. There is no cell phone reception on-site except in the meadow area but there is a public phone available, and an office phone for urgent calls. There is a steep hill to the meadow area. Free time is reserved for your personal independent exploration. Evenings at leisure offer opportunities to make the program more meaningful and memorable through personal independent exploration, engaging in available activities on your own, or simply relaxing and making new friends among fellow participants. The Group Leader will always be happy to offer suggestions. Program activities, schedules, personnel, and indicated times may change due to local conditions/circumstances. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding. Continue getting to know your fellow Road Scholars, settle in, and get a good night’s rest for the full day ahead.

Breakfast: In the dining room, enjoy a delicious, mainly organic, vegetarian, buffet breakfast with coffee, tea, juice and water.

Morning: Experience a Qigong movement class and learn about energy and flexibility. Qigong and self-acupressure will move Qi, or vital energy, smoothly through your meridians and bring you to a state of relaxation with gentle physical movements and mindful breathing. After a break, learn meditation techniques, with mindfulness meditations and visualization, for deep inner peace and relaxation.

Lunch: In the dining room, enjoy a delicious, mainly organic, vegetarian, buffet lunch with coffee, tea and water.

Afternoon: Take an expert-led nature walk in a majestic redwood forest, learning about redwood ecology, wild herbs and birds. After some free time, enjoy a snack in the dining room, then take in a lecture and demonstration on aromatherapy. Learn how to use organic essential oils at home in many simple ways, including baths, steam inhalations, compresses and massage blends.

Dinner: Dining room vegetarian buffet.

Evening: On site, evening activities could include socializing, the viewing of a documentary film or movie, another form of entertainment, a lecture or a private massage. You may also choose to enjoy some time at leisure if you wish.

Morning: We’ll enjoy our Qigong movement class before a mid-morning break, followed by a session to advance our meditation techniques

Lunch: Dining room vegetarian buffet.

Afternoon: After some free time and a snack in the dining room, take in a lecture and demonstration on healing energy massage for balance and wellness.

Dinner: Dining room vegetarian buffet.

Evening: We will enjoy a musical performance from a local musician in the Pine room

Morning: Cap your rejuvenation experience with meditation techniques, for deep inner peace and relaxation. After a break, experience a movement class and learn about energy and flexibility to bring you to a state of relaxation with gentle physical movements and mindful breathing.

Lunch: Dining room vegetarian buffet. This concludes our program. If you are returning home, safe travels. If you are staying on independently, have a wonderful time. If you are transferring to another Road Scholar program, detailed instructions are included in your Information Packet for that program.
