At the hotel each morning, we’ll gather in the main breakfast room for a delicious buffet breakfast including choices like an egg dish, breakfast meats and potatoes, hot and cold cereals, yogurt, assorted breads and pastries, and fresh fruit, plus milk, juice, coffee, tea, water.
Boarding our shuttle, we will head to our launch point and set out on a morning kayaking field trip around the harbor islands. Upon arrival, our kayaking leaders will provide a presentation on safety and proper technique before we grab paddles. Aboard tandem kayaks with your grandchild, we’ll have the opportunity to hopefully see wildlife like manatees and various species of birds! Our expert kayaking leaders will do their best at adjusting course to give us the best experience. After our paddle, we'll reboard our motorcoach and head over to Sams House at the nearby Pine Island Conservation Area. During our interactive field trip, we'll learn more about the plants and animals that call this protected land and the adjacent Indian River Lagoon home. We'll also have time for a look inside Sams House, home of the pioneer Sams family and the oldest standing house in Brevard County, FL. Bring bug spray and water with you as we'll be spending periods of time outdoors in the Conservation Area. Afterward, we'll return to the hotel.
At Sams House, we'll enjoy a boxed lunch in a covered area.
After a brief rest at the hotel, we’ll rendezvous at a predetermined time and place for transfer from the hotel to Golf N Gator. In a private space, we'll get up close to a selection of animals introduced to us by a local expert in our own private show. We’ll learn about the particular characteristics of each species including many that are native to central Florida. After our animal encounter, we'll enjoy our last evening with our new friends as we wind down with 18 holes of mini golf. Fore!
After Golf N Gator, we'll board our motorcoach and head to a local restaurant overlooking Port Canaveral for a Farewell Dinner. Share some of your favorite experiences from the program with new Road Scholar friends.
We’ll return to the hotel afterwards for the remainder of the evening at leisure. Be sure to prepare for check-out and departures in the morning.
