For years I have wanted to visit this part of the country and I was not disappointed as this trip covered all of the highlights of this area. We had a delightful group that made the trip even more special. The leader was amazing and kept us all on track and I saw more than I ever thought I would. As I usually like the more active trips, there was just enough bus riding with lots of chances to stretch your legs. I love Road Scholar and talk it up whenever I have the chance!!

This trip was fabulous! We originally enrolled as a way to tour Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons while having someone else worry about the planning, driving, etc... but we were pleasantly surprised that this trip turned out to be so much more! All of it was great, but we especially loved Crazy Horse, the Badlands, the Buffalo Bill Museum, our stay at Jackson Lake Lodge (we took the dinner raft trip - fabulous!), and Devil's Tower. Everything was well thought out and organized. We greatly appreciated our program guide Joseph (awesome - knowledgeable with a great sense of humor), the various instructors (they shared their expertise without being boring), and our bus driver Mert (so friendly and attentive). The food and accommodations were great, and we were busy every day. Road Scholar thought of everything, down to the tiniest detail (snacks, rest stops, etc), to make our jam-packed trip enjoyable. There's no way we could have done it all on our own. This was our first Road Scholar experience, and we already have several trips saved on our Wish List... it'll be hard to choose what's next, but we can't wait!

Glad we had the hotel in the city. I saw the hotel in the outskirts and was not impressed.

We saw so much in such a short time and the schedule was flawless. On board CDs highlighted the upcoming sites and there was a very collegial atmosphere on the bus created by the tour guide. Our every need was anticipated and the team representing Road Scholar did themselves proud. They were attentive to our every need providing quality service at each stop and excellent information throughout the trip..

The website clearly defined the tour! The daily activities are included but didn't prepare me for how wonderful, numerous and engaging they were for me.

The On the Road program was terrific. Seeing Mount Rushmore, the Badlands, the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone was just amazing. Our group leaders, Candy and Markus added to the experience by being welcoming, accommodating, and so enthusiastic about the area. It was a wonderful experience for my husband and myself. I would highly recommend this program!

We just completed our “On The Road...” tour with Road Scholar. There is not a better way to see the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, Devil’s Tower, and Cody, Wyoming, to name a few points of interest. Our guide and driver were phenomenal experts about this area and the amenities were five-star! If you don’t have this trip on your bucket list, add it!

We thought the trip was AWESOME! We got to see many incredible places without having to worry about the logistics so we could focus on enjoying the sites. The other Road Scholar participants came from all over USA and we enjoyed meeting terrific people.

This excellent program checked off a number of must see destinations on our list in a pleasant, wide ranging, well paced, active, road trip format. It also provided an education not only about the places and attractions, but their associated people, cultures, and historical events. We also met delightful tour guides, a skilled bus driver, and a group of fascinatingly unique fellow program participants!

I can't say enough good things about our group leaders hard work, friendliness and preparation. I was also very impressed with our driver, who after 8 days, 1,600 miles and a bus load of people, remained jovial.

Can't say enough good things about the group leaders Dianne & Greg. They handled all the logistics and were always very upbeat while constantly answering questions or providing information. They were amazing! This is an excellent way to see the Badlands, Yellowstone & the Grand Tetons - plus lots of other bonus things along the way. Information was presented in a variety of formats - including videos on the bus, lots of museum and welcome center displays, handouts and narration by experts. Very enjoyable group of people and INCREDIBLE scenery with lots of opportunities to walk, take pictures and enjoy the beauty & history of the locations.

This trip is BEST for people who have never traveled to all the wonderful places that we did. They will receive an excellent dosage of so many places and events, which is helpful if they want to return and look deeper to learn more about what they saw.

This is a great tour. We travelled approximately 1600 miles in 9 days. The amount of distance travelled was not difficult because of the many stops and entertainment available along the way. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to see the Dakota-Wyoming area.

This tour is an incredibly full agenda of visiting national parks, a state park & many other venues. Every day was full, even if it was a long day on the bus. Still made stops & the scenery was always wonderful.

This was a very educational and beautiful trip. The Grand Tetons are especially beautiful and a place to go to for a relaxing time. The length of the trip was just right. Our tour directors were fabulous and saw to all our needs. I highly recommend this trip.

We’ve been on six RS trip to date and this, like the others, was excellent. We covered a lot of ground, sometimes the bus rides were long, but stories and history taught along the way made the experience a pleasant one. Plus we got to see the wide open landscape which was beautiful. Our host, Jennifer, is second to none. Here is video we made of the entire experience. Posted on YouTube https://youtu.be/UKQ-nGYgDyE.

This trip was better than I imagined, and I was already imagining that it would be wonderful when I signed up for it. The program is particularly good for someone who wants to see the specific things this tour covers--I had not seen any of them, so it was a perfect tour for me.

This was an amazing trip. We were so fortunate to have great tour guides, fun fellow travelers, and perfect weather. It was quite warm on parts of our trip but overnight temperatures dropped to the high 30's in the Tetons. On this tour we got a lot of "windshield" time since we put over 1600 miles on the coach. However we did get to see a lot of sights. Our tour guides were particularly knowledgeable about the sights but also about the the ranches, cattle, and battles with pronghorns, elk, deer, etc. On part of our trip (from Cody, WY to Yellowstone) we had a Ranger type person accompany us on the coach and was able to tell us lots more about the mountains and areas in Yellowstone. It was a great addition to our trip. Some of the "minor" sights we saw that we didn't expect to see included the Buffalo Bill Cody Museum in Cody, WY. It is 5 museums under one roof and includes a gun museum, American Indian Museum, an art museum, and of course a Buffalo Bill Cody Museum. Some of the other sights included a dig site for wooly mammoths, a Big Horn Sheep Museum, and finding herds of bison while travelling through Custer State Park. This was our third Road Scholar trip and probably our favorite.

Must be one of the best tours imaginable.

I really enjoyed this trip. This was my test drive for Road Scholar and I was very happy with the experience. I have been on many Rick Steves tours in Europe and this experience was comparable to those, although the food and wine is always better in Europe! I enjoyed the focus on learning about the geography, geology, history, people and seeing the beautiful countryside. As i age, I can see me being able to take more of these trips. It was great to meet new people and to experience our travels together.

My husband and I took this trip in August 2018. We never could have put anything like this together on our own. The hotel accommodations, meals, entrance fees to sites visited were all taken care of so we just enjoyed the time. From the majestic scenery to the smallest detail (like restroom and gift store stops) were all selected with our comfort in mind. It's fun to travel with other people and still have free time to get off on your own. I would wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone wanting to see this part of the country.

The leaders were terrific! I learned so much about the areas we visited and it generated a new interest in the fate of the Plains Indians. Also, the leaders paid much attention to all of us participants. The bus driver was also wonderful. This is one of the best trips I've ever taken and that's saying a lot because I'm a world traveler. Sincerely, Edna Erspamer

Very well planned and executed trip. Although several days included long bus rides, they were broken up with well planned rest stops in interesting places and informative videos when 'on the road'. Paul was a fantastic leader. If you want to see this part of the country, take this trip!

While we had seen many of the places, our memories were renewed and new ones added. This program was the best one for a good emersion of the entire three state region.

What a wonderful trip to Yellowstone! I could not have planned this trip myself, it was too overwhelming for me and I plan travel for a living. There is so much to see and do. Having it organized and receiving the in-depth knowledge from local was perfect. So glad we made this trip!

This was the BEST Road Scholar trip we have taken so far, largely due to the leaders (Paul and Teresa Reed) -AND- due to the interesting National Parks and Memorials and landmarks covered. Having lived in the East all my life, it was utterly AMAZING to journey out West, to see totally different vistas!!!

The Mount Rushmore trip is a dream come true. It started as a completing a check list of places I had wanted to visit, but had not. By the end, I was educated, energized, and continually surprised.

Our trip to Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone & Grand Tetons was fantastic. The sights were awesome especially the Grand Tetons. The hotels were great with good beds, clean rooms, and friendly helpful staffs. The meals in the Holiday Inn in Rapid City were tasty. The coupons to eat at our choice of restaurants worked very well Every breakfast was great. We enjoyed the picnic lunches as we traveled and even eating on the bus during on a rainy day. We especially enjoyed dinner in the Grand Tetons Lodge Restaurant. The guides at museums were really good and the videos on the bus were excellent. We really learned a lot about the National Parks, the history of the states we visited and we saw the highlights of every location we visited. Joseph Singleton was a fantastic guide who was very informed, helpful in every way, and he enjoyed getting to know new people. We really had a good time and would recommend this trip and Joseph to everyone.

This was my first "commercial" travel experience -- previously having traveled on a bus to an event in Washington DC or a church group to Puerto Rico and also the 2000 mile Zapatista Caravan in Mexico (2001) and a Global Exchange trip to a World Social Forum in Brazil. All other travel has been organized by myself and often with myself as the driver. Obviously, the costs vary. I wanted to be as open-minded as I could approaching something that someone else planned and we paid for. This particular trip impressed me in many ways. I'm sure I visited more "places, museums, sights" this way, and I was exposed to more information than had it relied on me to obtain that information...often I would not even know to ask, or from whom, so certainly the professional experience in providing and the group as a forum increased considerably my exposure. In some ways I missed driving, for example, the ability to see down the road or to stop whenever I wanted to look, to read something, to take a picture. On the other hand I didn't have to worry about lodging or meals or scheduling or knowing time needed. There were definitely too many videos -- and sometimes I intentionally pulled away to look out the window (and others slept), yet everyone in the whole group might not choose the same selection. I wasn't interested in Buffalo Bill Cody, but I learned. I was delighted with some of the location-interpretation videos -- and the Theodore Roosevelt and the Oregon Trail. I might not have chosen Sacajawea, but it was good quality and relevant. One final comment, a moment of excitement came for me as I looked at the Oregon Trail video, and the map, and out the window. There was a convergence.....we were seeing part of the exact country that the rest was talking about. Between The Grand Tetons and Casper....we were really living it, and I took time to absorb and feel the excitement of that.

The trip to Mt Rushmore, Yellowstone and Grand Tetons was simply splendid and totally exceeded my expectations. The natural beauty of this area is simply breathtaking. The study of the Indian culture and westward expansion in this natural area was most rewarding. Everyone should take this trip Joe Gregowicz Tucson Arizona

We are so glad we took this Road Scholar trip. We probably wouldn't have gotten to see Yellowstone on our own because of the distance and remoteness. It was easy to sit back and enjoy the scenery. Be prepared for early mornings and lots of bus travel time and hotel changes. But worth the effort.
