Island Adventure: Discover Chincoteague and Assateague Islands
After you enroll, we’ll ask you to provide or update your personal information and preferences, which includes your health information, lodging and meal preferences for your program.
United States citizens don’t need a visa for any of the countries you’ll be visiting. Non-U.S. citizens should refer to their country's requirements to ensure they have the necessary documentation for travel.
Arrival day is on Sunday, April 4, 2027.

We recommend renting a car from the airport. Rental car options are available here: www.norfolkairport.com/parking-transportation/ground-transportation . Keep in mind taxi services from Norfolk to the Island are hard to come by and expensive due to the distance. It is also helpful to have a car during your stay since there is no public transportation or ride share services on Chincoteague.

Free parking is available at the hotel. There is no public transportation on the Island, so participants are encouraged to have their own vehicle to explore the Island during their free time.
All points north or south
You will be traveling either north or south on Rte. 13. Turn east at the Rte. 175 stoplight in Oak Hall, Virginia. You won't mistake the direction, as there is only one way to turn (except a store on the other side). Rte. 175 will bring you onto Chincoteague Island. Landmarks at the stoplight are T's Corner gas station & store, Sonic drive-through, Food Lion on the east and a couple of small stores on the west side of the road. If you accidentally turn into the Food Lion parking lot, simply head left and turn right onto Rte. 175 from the side of the parking lot.
Chincoteague Island
The weather on Chincoteague Island is seasonal. In the spring and fall, it is usually cool in the early morning and evening, but warms up nicely during the day. Throughout the summer, expect it to be warm (maybe hot).
