Molly – Class of 2022 | Boise, ID
This trip was excellent — for both the grandkids and the grandparents. The trip leaders created a very well-thought out trip itinerary and their knowledge was exhaustive. Darryl did a great job of *teaching* by showing and involving the kids, and Paula did a great job of seeing to all the logistics & details and augmenting Darryl’s *teaching moments.* Our grandson had a blast and we feel certain he will remember this trip for a lifetime. We were so sad to learn of the North Rim lodge’s destruction in the fire that swept through there less than a week after our departure. The Hilton Garden Inn accommodations in Vegas on our first night were a bit *sketchy* and, as it turns out, the property was WOEFULLY unprepared for the power outage that occurred (inadequate emergency lighting throughout the hotel; darkened stairwells that felt like a furnace; and little to no communication about what was going on). Fortunately we were eventually moved to a nearby Hampton Inn that was newer, much cleaner and had power, but the chaos prior to that move was NOT a good start to the program. We would highly recommend this trip to others.

My grandson and I thoroughly enjoyed this amazing and memorable trip. Darrell and his wife Paula are knowledgeable, friendly and accessible trip leaders who made this experience unforgettable. We learned so much about the places we visited, the animals and plants, the geology and the people who have lived there.

This is a great trip for grandparents and grandkids! The scenery is great, the kids are active a lot of the time, there's a lot of interactive learning, and Paula and Darrell set a very warm tone! I'm very appreciative to have had the opportunity to take my granddaughter on this trip of a lifetime! And it was great to see my granddaughter make friends with terrific kids from other parts of the country!

It was an enjoyable and educational program to share with a grandchild. Be sure to pack a refillable water bottle and a carrying strap or bag to carry it. This leaves your hands free to take photos. Layering clothes is important as mornings are very cool and afternoons hot. I kept a daily journal to give to my grandchild after the trip.

My grandson Michael and I could not of had a better time. He told me all three canyons blew him away. Our Road Scholar team Phil, Sandy and Dan made the trip memorable. It was a great balance of education, hiking, great restaurants and fun being together. I would recommend me this to anyone who wants to have a special memory with your grandchild. Thank you again Phil, Sandy and Dan Lou and Michael

Zion, Bryce and the North End of the Grand Canyon were magnificent to see, learn about and spent time on the trails. My granddaughter like walking the trains in Utah State Park, Zion and Bryce NatI Parks. It was June and the parks were so crowded. I am glad we went early and left by noon to excape the heat in Zion. Bryce was not as busy. One of my granddaughter's best memory was riding horses through Bryce. I loved the historic Lodge at the North Rim and Staying in the small basic historic cabins. It is an amazing trip. We saw a rodeo when we were at the hotel by Bryce. The rodeo was not good. There we very long waits from one event to another. The horses were so skinny you could see there bones. I left early. It was too sad to watch. The downside to this trip is the amount of time that is spent in a bus traveling from Park to Park. Many of the kids lacked the maturity to behave on the long bus rides which became a source of contention. Don't bring a grandchild who will not tolerate long bus rides and lack the maturity to behave. The second downside to the trip was the large number of travels 34. My previous trips had smaller numbers.

This program was an outstanding event for me. While I consider myself fairly well informed on many subjects the instructors here brought me much additional knowledge in an understandable and relatable way. I would encourage people to seriously consider this program whether or not they have visited these parks because they will learn even more and enjoy the experience of doing so!

This trip introduces you to three of our great National Parks--their incredibly diversity and distinct beauty. Horseback riding and the rodeo provide exposure to the "cowboy culture". And the leaders were more than wonderful--fun and informative.

Wonderful trip! Leaders and instructors were knowledgeable, friendly and related well with the children. Scenery was breathtaking. And sustained time with my granddaughter was a treat. While horseback riding down Bryce Canyon, she turned around to me and said "Isn't this the most fun you've ever had!" Thank you Road Scholar.
