National Road Scholar Recorder/Early Music Workshop
After you enroll, we’ll ask you to provide or update your personal information and preferences, which includes your health information, lodging and meal preferences for your program.
United States citizens don’t need a visa for any of the countries you’ll be visiting. Non-U.S. citizens should refer to their country's requirements to ensure they have the necessary documentation for travel.
For Road Scholar Early Music (program #6254), Hidden Valley requires testing and isolation measures that go above the current Road Scholar policies. The COVID virus is still with us, though as of late July COVID-19 activity is low and stable nationally. It is beginning to show early signs of an increase in the West and South so we will continue to monitor and change our COVID testing policy accordingly. New for this year: we are not requiring testing in advance unless you have been with others who test positive in the week before the workshop, or if you are experiencing mild symptoms in the week before the workshop. We reserve the right to change this policy if conditions change. Please bring your own COVID tests. Some will be available for sale. We recommend that you bring N-95 masks. We require that all workshop participants, faculty, and staff observe these precautions: • In the week prior to the program, please do all you can to avoid becoming ill. Consider isolating or being extra careful like wearing a mask in public, on public transport, and at large indoor gatherings. • In the week prior to the program, please test yourself for COVID-19 if you have been with others who test positive or if you are experiencing mild symptoms. • Bring with you: a few FDA approved COVID tests in case you develop symptoms while at the workshop. Masks (N-95 are most effective) for precaution and in case of illness outbreak. • Before arrival and during the workshop: If you have symptoms of an infectious illness please do not come to the workshop. If you develop symptoms of an infectious illness while at the workshop, please immediately isolate, test for COVID-19, and let Hidden Valley staff know. If you test positive for Covid you must leave the workshop (or quarantine for the remainder of the workshop). The Road Scholar Early Music program at Hidden Valley is a congregate living environment, and we want to protect the health of all our community members, some of whom have compromised immune systems. You must be able to manage your own luggage to use this service. Central Coast Taxi (831-636-3333) and ride shares (Uber and Lyft) serves this area and can bring you the rest of the way to Hidden Valley.

Hidden Valley is located exactly 11.2 miles east of Hwy 1 on the Carmel Valley Road (G-16) in Carmel Valley, California. Traveling east on G-16, Hidden Valley is located on the right side just past Ford Road. The campus entrance is distinguished by a hand-carved sign denoting Hidden Valley, An Institute of the Arts. Traveling on Hwy 101 heading north (from the south), take the Monterey Peninsula exit in Salinas (called Sanborn Road) and follow it west (Sanborn Rd. becomes Blanco Road) to Hwy 68. Turn left onto Hwy 68 (west) and follow it about 9 miles until you see a sign for Laureles Grade (G-20) to Carmel Valley. Turn left onto G-20 and follow it until it ends (6 miles) at Carmel Valley Road. Turn left again and follow it to Hidden Valley (approx. 2 miles). Traveling on Hwy 101 heading south (from the north), Take the Monterey Peninsula/Hwy 156 exit and follow it west about 5 miles where it will automatically put you onto Hwy 1. Traveling on Hwy 1, simply come to the Carmel Valley Road (just south of Carmel) and once on the Carmel Valley Road, come out 11.2 miles.
