Afternoon: Unpack and relax. At 5:45 pm please join us for our first gathering in the meeting room. The Group Leader will greet everyone and lead introductions.

Dinner: Dinner at 6:30 PM onsite. Our goal is to provide healthy meals with options for special diet requests. People requesting special diets may need to supplement the meals with their personal items to ensure they meet their dietary needs

Evening: Orientation: We will review the program theme, the up-to-date daily schedule, discuss safety guidelines, emergency procedures, roles and responsibilities, and answer any questions you may have. Program activities, schedules, and personnel may change due to local circumstances. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Transportation will be via private 15 person vans; hikes and presentations are led by group leaders, guides, and local experts. This is a physically demanding and challenging program. Hiking distances will range from 2 to 10 miles at elevations up to 8,000 feet. For more specifics, please see the daily notes.

Old Growth Forest Walk

Activity note: Walk 4-7 miles with up to 1200 ft. gain on nice forest path. You can rest and turn around whenever you want. Path is nicely maintained.

Breakfast: Breakfast at 8:00 AM onsite.

Morning: Hike along the Salmon River through Old Growth Forests. 2-4 miles with elevation gains up to 300 ft.

Lunch: Enjoy your sack lunch along the trail which you assembled in the morning at our lunch buffet with many sandwich, snack and fruit options. We strongly encourage you to bring and refill personal water bottles each day.

Afternoon: Continue hiking along the central Salmon river for an additional 4.6 miles RT with 200 ft. gain. Walk beneath majestic old growth tees on a soft carpeted trail.

Dinner: 6:30 PM dinner onsite.

Evening: Evening presentation on local geology or natural history will end by 9:00 PM

Timothy Lake Hike, Visit Little Crater Lake

Activity note: Hike either 3 miles or 7.2 miles with 100 ft elevation gain on nicely maintained trail.

Breakfast: Breakfast at 7:15 AM onsite.

Morning: Hike along the edge of Timothy Lake with its beautiful views of Mt. Hood. Up to 3 miles with elevation gain of 100 ft.

Lunch: Enjoy your sack lunch along the trail which you assembled in the morning at our lunch buffet with many sandwich, snack and fruit options. We strongly encourage you to bring and refill personal water bottles each day.

Afternoon: Hike to Little Crater Lake; a deep, crystal clear, artesian spring fed lake. 4.2 mile with 50 ft. elevation gain.

Dinner: 6:30 PM dinner onsite.

Evening: Evening program on geology or natural history will end by 9:00 PM.

Mirror Lake Hike

Activity note: Hike up to 6,4 miles with up to 1400 ft elevation gain. You can shorten the hike to your needs since we hike in and out on the same trail.

Breakfast: Breakfast at 7:15 AM onsite.

Morning: Hike to Mirror Lake in the mountains surrounding Mt. Hood. 3.2 miles roundtrip with elevation gain of 700 ft.

Lunch: Enjoy your sack lunch along the trail which you assembled in the morning at our lunch buffet with many sandwich, snack and fruit options. We strongly encourage you to bring and refill personal water bottles each day.

Afternoon: Continue hiking from Mirror lake to Tom, Dick and Harry Mountain. 3.2 miles roundtrip with elevation gain of 700 ft. After our hike enjoy the historic ambience of Timberline lodge with a tour, then relax with an optional drink and appetizer (on your own).

Dinner: Dinner 7:00 PM at Alton Collins Retreat Center.

Evening: Optional video on Timberline lodge.

Hike the Trail of Ten Falls at Oregon's largest State Park

Activity note: Trail of ten falls is an 8.7 mile loop with 600 ft elevation gain.

Breakfast: Breakfast at 7:15 am onsite.

Morning: Drive to Silver Falls State Park and begin hiking The Trail of Ten Falls, one of America's most impressive waterfall day hikes.

Lunch: Enjoy your sack lunch along the trail which you assembled in the morning at our lunch buffet with many sandwich, snack and fruit options. We strongly encourage you to bring and refill personal water bottles each day.

Afternoon: Finish the Trail of Ten Falls. North Falls, a 136' beauty, is one of the most spectacular falls experiences in the northwest. Optional stop in quaint town of Silverton on route back to lodge.

Dinner: 6:30 PM Dinner onsite.

Evening: Evening program on local history will end by 9:00 PM.

Tamanawas Falls Hike

Activity note: Tamanawas Falls is 3.8 miles RT, 500 ft. gain on well maintained trail with a few rocks you have to step over. Trillium lake is 2 mile flat hike on nice trail.

Breakfast: Breakfast at 7:15 AM onsite.

Morning: Hike to Tamanawas Falls along a cascading clear river. Enjoy the drier pine habitat of the eastern side of Mt. Hood. 3.8 miles RT with 500 ft. elevation gain

Lunch: Enjoy your sack lunch along the trail which you assembled in the morning at our lunch buffet with many sandwich, snack and fruit options. We strongly encourage you to bring and refill personal water bottles each day.

Afternoon: Walk around Trillium lake with beautiful views of Mt. Hood. 2 miles with minimal elevation gain.

Dinner: Dinner at 6:30 PM onsite.

Evening: Gather for a closing program to share memories and experiences, watch a slide show consisting of photographs taken by members of the group during the week, and learn about other Road Scholar programs. Finish by 9:00 pm.
