Activity note: Hotel check-in: Available from 3:00 p.m.

Afternoon: Hotel check-in available from 3:00 p.m. You will receive a welcome packet from the front desk of the hotel upon check-in. It will contain your name-tag and an up-to-date schedule that we will review during Orientation. Program Registration: 4:30 p.m. After you have your room assignment, come over to the noted meeting room and meet your Group Leader. Here you will complete any necessary paperwork. If your arrival is delayed, please ask for your packet you check-in. Orientation: 5:00 p.m. The Group Leader will greet everyone with a warm welcome and lead introductions. We will review the up-to-date daily program schedule and any last-minute changes, discuss roles and responsibilities, logistics, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and answer any questions you may have. Free time is reserved for your personal independent exploration. Please be aware that program activities, schedules and personnel may need to change due to local circumstances. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

Dinner: Enjoy a dinner buffet at the hotel with entrée, sides and dessert plus coffee, iced tea, lemonade or water; other beverages available for purchase.

Evening: This evening we enjoy a presentation about the natural history of Glacier National Park with a local expert.

Interpretive hikes in Lake McDonald Valley, Presentation

Activity note: Travel into Glacier National Park in 15 Passenger Vans, approximate 75 minute drive time. Maximum elevation of 4,000' today. Walking and hiking outdoors along maintained dirt trails that may be rocky and uneven. Expect to hike 5-8 miles. We'll split into smaller groups based on comfort level and ability. Restrooms available at most trail heads. Return trip to hotel approximately 75 minute drive time.

Breakfast: At the hotel, enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast buffet. Selections include Chef made-to-order omeletts, pancakes, French toast, and waffles, along with self-serve fruit, Danish, bagels, hot and cold cereals, muffins, and yogurt. An assortment of juices, milk, coffee & hot tea will also be available.

Morning: Today we will travel to Glacier National Park and explore Lake McDonald Valley. Several expert-led hiking options will be offered. Options may include the Avalanche Lake Trail, McDonald Creek Trail or Lake McDonald Trail. Trail selections are made by group leaders and field instructors on the day of the hike and subject to change based on weather, trail conditions and group ability. The Avalanche Lake Trail winds through an old-growth forest of western red cedar and western hemlock. The trail passes a narrow gorge carved by glacial water and ends up at an idyllic, subalpine lake rimmed with waterfalls. McDonald Creek Trail meanders through a mixed woodland of hemlock, larch and Douglas fir, passing by McDonald Creek's cascading turquoise waters and thundering falls. Observant hikers may get a glimpse of harlequin ducks that breed along McDonald Creek. The Lake McDonald Trail hugs the western shoreline of a glacially carved lake surrounded by towering peaks. The trail travels through the remains of a 2003 wildfire, providing the unique opportunity to witness the rebirth of a forest.

Afternoon: This afternoon, continue expert-led walks and hikes through the beautiful Lake McDonald Valley.

Dinner: Buffet at the hotel.

Evening: This evening we'll learn more about Glacier National Park's ecosystems, culture and history with a local expert.

Going-to-the-Sun Road, Expert-led hikes, Many Glacier Hotel

Activity note: Travel to Many Glacier Hotel in 15 Passenger Vans, approximate 3 hr drive time, stops include time for restrooms and hikes along the way. Elevation of up to 7,200' today. Many Glacier Hotel is at 4,900'. Expect to hike 5-8 miles. We'll split into smaller groups based on comfort level and ability. Restrooms available at most trail heads.

Breakfast: At the hotel.

Morning: After checking out of the Hilton Garden Inn, we'll depart for Many Glacier Hotel by way of the famous Going-to-the-Sun Road. Along the way we'll stop for hikes with destinations that may include Piegan Pass, Preston Park or a trio of waterfalls consisting of Barring Falls, Virginia Falls and St. Mary Falls. The Piegan Pass and Preston Park hikes will take you through subalpine forests and meadows bursting with wildflowers. As the trail gains altitude you may get a glimpse of Piegan Glacier in the distance. The 'triple waterfall' hike will take you through a forest that burned in 2015 where new life is abundant and wildflowers abound. Along the trail you will enjoy stunning views of St. Mary Lake and visit three thundering waterfalls. Please note that hike options are subject to change based on current conditions and group ability.

Lunch: Enjoy a pre-selected sack lunch made fresh with sandwich wrap and sides.

Afternoon: After completing our hikes, we will continue our journey over the Going-to-the-Sun Road where we'll view sky scraping peaks, waterfalls and meadows teeming with wildflowers and wildlife. Later in the afternoon we'll check in to Many Glacier Hotel. Many Glacier was built in 1914 by the Great Northern Railway as a destination resort for its rail tourists. The hotel sits among soaring peaks and glassy lakes.

Dinner: Enjoy a menu select dinner in the Ptarmigan Dining Room, located on-site at the hotel.

Evening: Optional evening wildlife viewing. Bring your binoculars as we "glass" the nearby slopes looking for grizzlies, moose, and bighorn sheep.

Morning: This morning we'll learn more about Glacier National Park through expert-led interpretive hikes around the scenic and spectacular Grinnell Valley. Please note that hike options are subject to change based on current conditions and group ability.

Lunch: Enjoy a pre-selected sack lunch made fresh with sandwich or wrap and sides.

Afternoon: Continuation of expert-led interpretive hikes.

Dinner: Menu select in the hotel dinning room.

Evening: Optional evening wildlife viewing. Bring your binoculars as we "glass" the nearby slopes looking for grizzlies, moose, and bighorn sheep.

Morning: Enjoy an expert-led interpretive all day hike on one of the Swiftcurrent Valley trails. Keep your eyes open for waterfalls and wildlife. Please note that hike options are subject to change based on current conditions and group ability.

Lunch: Enjoy a pre-selected sack lunch made fresh with sandwich or wrap and sides.

Afternoon: Continuation of expert-led interpretive hikes.

Dinner: Menu select in the hotel dinning room.

Evening: Optional evening wildlife viewing. Bring your binoculars as we "glass" the nearby slopes looking for grizzlies, moose, and bighorn sheep.

Return to Kalispell, Logan Pass Interpretive Hike

Activity note: Travel to Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in 15 Passenger Vans, approximate 3 hr drive time, stops include time for restrooms and hikes along the way. Expect to hike 5-8 miles. We'll split into smaller groups based on comfort level and ability. Restrooms available at most trail heads.

Breakfast: Menu select in the hotel dinning room.

Morning: After checking out of Many Glacier Hotel, we'll travel back along the Going-to-the-Sun Road. We will stop for one final hike at Logan Pass, located along the Continental Divide, where waters flow toward both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Logan Pass is the highest point on the Going-to-the-Sun Road with an elevation of 6,646'. We will embark upon expert-led interpretive hikes that take us through alpine meadows teeming with wildflowers and wildlife. Hike destinations may include the Hidden Lake or Hidden Lake Overlook. Please note that hike options are subject to change based on current conditions and group ability.

Lunch: Enjoy a pre-selected sack lunch made fresh with sandwich or wrap and sides.

Afternoon: Continuation of hikes and traveling the Going-to-the-Sun Road. Check back into the Hilton Garden Inn, Kalispell.

Dinner: We'll celebrate a week full of adventure and learning with a casual final dinner together. Enjoy a plated sit-down meal at the hotel. Dinner will include entrée, sides, and dessert plus an optional glass of wine, coffee, iced tea, lemonade or water; other beverages available for purchase.
