This program allows access by foot to some of the most beautiful and remote areas of the nation. Sightings of wildlife are frequent and thrilling. The early history of the park and the influence of the railroad to it’s development are fascinating.

This was my first Road Scholar program and it exceeded my expectations! The hikes were amazing, the accommodations comfortable, the food decent, and the instructors so knowledgeable and friendly. Plus the other participants were a lot of fun. We really bonded. The hikes were gorgeous - and there were various levels offered, so we could choose the amount of elevation gain we wanted to tackle each day. We saw amazing glaciers, gorgeous lakes, waterfalls, and lots of wildlife. Clear evenings made for spectacular star gazing. All in all, a fabulous trip!

This program is definitely worth doing if you like scenic vistas and hiking in remote locations. Remote does not mean we were alone as Glacier National Park is a magnet for a lot of like-minded tourists. The hikes the program leaders offered were designed to meet the varying physical abilities of our 24 member group. If you wanted to take it easy one day and push yourself the next you could do it. Ed was a superb guide in every way. He was a pleasure to be around and really knew his stuff. He gave an exceptional talk about fire ecology and the history of forest fire use by the native americans, early pioneers, and the U.S. government. He wove in fire fighting policy and how it has evolved and changed over the last 75 years. Dan'l was a welcome addition to the group leader team and aptly led a number of challenging hikes. Denny gave an interesting presentation one of the nights which was worth every minute of listening. The guides know their material very well. I can't think of any question they were asked that they couldn't answer. I recommend this trip.

Glacier National Park . . . if you haven't been, you should go BEFORE the Glaciers have melted completely! Incredibly gorgeous area. The hiking is outstanding and the wildlife is thrilling. I'd go again in a heartbeat!!!

This program exposes participants to breathtaking scenery, with a range of very satisfying and lovely hikes tailored to various abilities. The leader and instructors were extremely knowledgeable and capable, and the logistics involved in moving a large group around were handled flawlessly. As usual with RS, the group was very congenial and mutually supportive. My daughter and I had a fantastic time, and enjoyed our first-ever sightings of a grizzly bear and moose. Be aware, however, that our national parks are very busy in the summer, so you share the trails with many others.

Glacier might be a one of a kind destination. I am very familiar with the " Rockies : , but the Vistas in Glacier are both Unique and Awesome, very different from those to the South. Not as high, but their Peaks are so close to one another, creating magnificent panoramas. Hiking trails of all types are in great abundance and plenty to suit your style. Just do it !

Glacier National Park has it all — gorgeous craggy mountains, glaciers, turquoise mountain lakes, lovely colorful wildflowers, beautiful and varied waterfalls. I saw 3 moose and multiple mountain goats and bears. Our guides Steph, Megan and Ellen were knowledgeable, enthusiastic, flexible, available and passionate about all things Glacier. The lodging was clean and comfortable. I traveled w 3 friends and we had a blast together plus met some interesting people from around the country. Differing abilities were accommodated well. I am so incredibly grateful for this trip.

OMG...this program was everything I hoped for and more! I learned so much about ecosystems, plants, animals. I enjoyed the ability to do both strenuous hikes and easier, slower paced hikes. The beauty of Glacier National Park was awe-inspiring! The team leader and instructors were wonderful! And it was terrific to interact with other like-minded people with so many similar interests. I made many new friends from all over the country who I will be keeping in touch with. Thank you Road Scholar!

I may have done this last year. Can't remember. The trip was great. Guides were excellent and fun. Speakers were also very informative and full of energy. Manny Glacier hotel was one of the highlights. Hikes were very good and some challenging. Our first hike was a little too aggressive for some of our group. I would like to do it again soon and bring my fishing pole along.

We did this program as a group of 5 old friends. It easily accomodated us as a group and we also were able to meet new interesting and fun people. We had optimal weather and wildlife viewing ! I found the daily hikes a good length (chosing the longer option of approx 7 ish miles each day) it was a good workout without exhausting me ! The leaders and instructors were great and made the trip enjoyable and so so easy ! thanks for the memories !

This is a great trip! Our leaders taught us so much about the flora and fauna in Glacier. We enjoyed every hike - they were all so different that we can't really say which was best. We saw tons of wildlife - both during the day and in the evenings. The opportunity to stay in the park lodges is not to be missed - one of the reasons that we chose this trip and it did not disappoint.

My husband and I just completed "Trailside Glacier". We were the oldest, ages 76, and not routine hikers. Each morning the various levels of hikes were described and we chose which one we wanted for that day. The average distance was 5.5 miles for the easier hike with a scenic scrumptious lunch break. Every question was answered by our thoughtful and humorous leaders. As with all RS trips, the educational value is immeasurable.

This would be in the top three of the 16 RS programs I've done. Great hiking through breathtaking scenery. Guide Dave Streeter is a treasure. So much pertinent information and experiences to share and such a generosity of spirit. As often the case with RS, the group was too large but we were broken into appropriate smaller groups based on individual abilities/wishes for each day. There is wifi at Many Glacier Hotel but very spotty and frustrating; best access is at 4 AM. Vegetarians beware: the bag lunches are inedible, best to make PBJ sandwiches at the breakfast buffet. The wild flowers were at their peak in our mid-July tour. Each day there was a possibility of a challenging hike at 6500 feet or a bird-watching stroll.

This was my favorite Road Scolar trip so far. The hikes accommodated my fitness level. Scenery and education about the flora and fauna of the area were outstanding!
