Our leader, Jackie and our bus driver, Frank, were great! Instructors, Robert Oswald and Frank Helling were outstanding. Although I was tired, Mr. Helling's performance: "An Evening with John Muir" was thoroughly enjoyed. I was disappointed that we did not visit Sequoia National Park visitor's center, due to time constraints. The next day, we enjoyed a picnic lunch by Grizzly Falls, which was a pretty spot, but not enough places to sit. Our accomodations went from the rustic Montecito Lodge, where I survived one night without heat, to the fancy Tenaya Lodge. What a difference! Although I signed up to see four spectacular National Parks, the Manzanar Historic site, was an unexpected highlight for me. All in all, the trip was an adventure which provided many "stories" to share with my friends. I can't wait till my next Road Scholar program!

This was a wonderful trip to some of America's crown jewels. Everyone would enjoy it. We spent quite a bit of time on the bus, but this was the result of the geography rather than a flaw in planning.

We have been on 6 trips with Road Scholar in the past 4 years. They are so through that we have decided that all of our major vacations we take in the future will be with Road Scholar. It is a huge learning experience as you not only see the beauty of GOD's creation but you learn all about it from qualified instructors and leaders. If you haven't tried it. DO. You will not regret it. Charlie Anderson, NC

Four Jewels will thrill you! Four National Parks and some side trips to amazing sites. First time I've gotten up prior to dawn to see the sun rise over mountains and dunes! What a joy to see all these parks and historical sites.

This program is a great introduction to these 4 California National Parks.I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about these parks and this area of California. I find I can't wait to go back for a more in depth visit to Yosemite.

We enjoyed our visit to the varied national parks of CA. Had some amazing experiences, such as seeing Death Valley, and, as usual on a Road Scholar trip, we learned many new things and met interesting people. If you want deluxe accommodations, this is not the trip for you but, if you want to see a lot in a week and learn something new, then visit the Four Jewels.

This was my first rs trip. Mino Anderson was our guide and John Jackson was the bus driver. What a great team! They were both intimately familiar with the vast area we travelled, and just seemed to work so well together as a team. I This was a big bucket list trip for me, and I certainly had the best trip I could possibly have, thanks to the quality of every aspect of the rs trip. Laura zimmerman

The Four Jewel Program is a wonderful visit to these famous Parks with guides who add the educational focus and issues from the past as well as the current ecology, impacts and reasons to preserve these incredible parks. This is well worth your time and money.

Excellent trip, as usual. Mino and Steve and Frank are excellent on all counts. A medical emergency by one of our group showed how caring, tactful and helpful guides and RS can be. Very reassuring. People on trip always great. Guides are flexible and have good sense of humor. Very knowledgeable. I started out not sure about going to Death Valley, but so glad we did. October was a wonderful time to go. You can not drive and see the beautiful scenery, so you might as well let Frank drive! Only complaint, ever, is the food in several places but I understand it must be a nightmare to meet the needs of everyone.

This was a very fine program--the sights in and around the national parks were awesome, as promised, and the trip to Manzanar was very powerful. The educational component was very well done--I learned a lot from both the suggested readings before the trip, and the talks and observations by our guides during the trip. The tour leaders were great, and the other participants were very lively and friendly.

I just returned from my first Road Scholar vacation of touring 4 national parks of California. What a great time it was! Even though I live in CA, I discovered several new places that were valuable learning experiences. The natural beauty of the parks was fantastic! Based on this successful trip, I would highly recommend that my friends and family try Road Scholar for their next vacation.

Just finished our First Road Scholar trip and we couldn't have been more pleased! The Four Jewels, Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Yosemite and Death Valley was a week packed with adventure and activity. We learned so much at each venue and met some wonderful guides and fellow travelers. I would highly recommend this trip!

Four gorgeous national parks...forest, chaparral, desert...knowledgeable and engaging presenters who care passionately about their subjects... Every day was brand new and I enjoyed myself thoroughly. Certain days involve a lot of travel time (the program description is honest about this) yet how else could I see so much in what is it, 8 days?

As with other Road Scholar trips, we got a lot of bang for our buck. The program was packed with many wonderful things to see and do. We saw some of the country's most beautiful scenery and learned much about California that we did not know previously. Pay attention to the activity level. A lot of hiking is included, some of it on somewhat rugged terrain.

We've been on over a dozen Road Scholar trips and this was one of the best.
