After you enroll, we’ll ask you to provide or update your personal information and preferences, which includes your health information, lodging and meal preferences for your program.

A passport is required for this program. It must be valid for at least 6 months after your return date.

If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Hotel Rice Palacio de los Blasones in Burgos

Start of Trip:  2:00 p.m. hotel check-in; 6:30 p.m. Orientation followed by Welcome Dinner.

Getting to the site: From Terminal 4 of the Madrid airport, take a direct bus to Burgos (the Estación de Autobuses de Burgos bus station) and walk about 1/2 mile to the hotel. It will take approximately 2.5 hours and costs approximately 20-35 Euro. You can either buy your bus ticket upon arrival or online at www.alsa.es/en. Getting to the site by train or bus: Available but not an easy transfer on your own.

Your trip ends on: Monday, October 20, 2025 in Porto at HF Tuela Porto

End of Trip: 10:30 a.m. after breakfast; 12:00 p.m. hotel check-out. Breakfast available depending on transfer time.

Getting to the airport: From the HF Tuela Porto take a taxi to the airport in Porto. It costs about 20 - 25 Euro and takes about 15-20 minutes.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Transfers for Independent Travelers: Road Scholar no longer offers complimentary transfers to participants with “Program Only” status. However, on this program, THE ARRIVAL TRANSFER is an exception to that policy due to the distance and complicated nature of traveling to the first hotel. If you arranged air with Road Scholar and are arriving early or booked your own air, there is a possibility to reserve a seat on the group arrival transfer. Reservations on the arrival transfer can be made by contacting rseuropeprograms@roadscholar.org no later than 30 DAYS prior to the program start date. ALL TRANSFER REQUESTS MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN 30 DAYS PRIOR TO THE PROGRAM START DATE! The transfer times and vehicle sizes are confirmed at this 30-day deadline, so any participant reaching out with a request after SEPTEMBER 7th may no longer be eligible for the transfer. YOU MUST INCLUDE YOUR PROGRAM NUMBER AND DATE IN THE SUBJECT LINE OF YOUR REQUEST. IF YOU ARRANGED AIR ON YOUR OWN, PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR FLIGHT INFORMATION AND DATE OF ARRIVAL IN YOUR REQUEST. The final transfer schedule is based on the times of arrival for Road Scholar booked flights and can be found above. In order to be eligible to join an arrival transfer your flight must arrive no later than 10:00 a.m. or the flights listed. If your flight arrives later than 10:30 a.m. or the flights listed, whichever is later, you will not be eligible for the transfer. IF YOU ARRANGED AIR WITH ROAD SCHOLAR AND ARE ARRIVING EARLY, you will not automatically be added to a transfer. You MUST reach out to RS Europe in order to reserve your space on the designated group transfer. If we do not hear from you, we will assume you are making your own way to the program hotel. If you miss your transfer for any reason, you may be responsible for making your own transfer arrangements to the first location.
