If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Hotel Rice Palacio de los Blasones in Burgos

Start of Trip:  2:00 p.m. hotel check-in; 6:30 p.m. Orientation followed by Welcome Dinner.

Getting to the site: From Terminal 4 of the Madrid airport, take a direct bus to Burgos (the Estación de Autobuses de Burgos bus station) and walk about 1/2 mile to the hotel. It will take approximately 2.5 hours and costs approximately 20-35 Euro. You can either buy your bus ticket upon arrival or online at www.alsa.es/en. Getting to the site by train or bus: Available but not an easy transfer on your own.

Your trip ends on: Monday, October 19, 2026 in Porto at HF Tuela Porto

End of Trip: 10:30 a.m. after breakfast; 12:00 p.m. hotel check-out. Breakfast available depending on transfer time.

Getting to the airport: From the HF Tuela Porto take a taxi to the airport in Porto. It costs about 20 - 25 Euro and takes about 15-20 minutes.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Transfers for Independent Travelers: Road Scholar no longer offers complimentary transfers to participants with “Program Only” Status. However, THE ARRIVAL TRANSFER on this program is an exception to that policy due to the distance to the first hotel. If you are arriving early to Madrid or booked your own air, there is a possibility to reserve a seat on the group arrival transfer. Reservations on the arrival transfer can be made by contacting the Road Scholar Europe team. We kindly request that you wait until you have received your first Information Packet before reaching out with a transfer request. Please note that we will not have a Final Transfer Schedule until approx. 7 weeks prior to the program start date, and it will be included in your Final Information Packet. The transfer schedule is based on the arrival times of Road Scholar booked flights and will vary from departure to departure. If you are arranging your own air, we request that your flight arrives NO LATER than 10:00 a.m. in order to ensure that your flight will arrive within the same time period as the flights arranged with Road Scholar. There is no guarantee that the final transfer schedule will coincide with independently booked flights. Please note: In the unlikely event Road Scholar must make changes to the program's arrival or departure details, we will notify all participants as soon as possible. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
