Oh, what a trip! The McMahons were excellent as local experts and coordinators. Made it so much more fun. Our bus driver, Paul, was a great addition to the travel team. The food and lodging was above par. Had a nice group of fellow travelers that made it more enjoyable. The itinerary was great with some additional side/bonus trips thrown in to add to the experience.
Highly recommend this trip to anyone looking to see some absolutely beautiful parks and landscapes. From Bryce Canyon, where you're looking down at marvelous hoodoos, to Arches, where you're looking up to see the splendor of these rock monuments, southern Utah is a starkly gorgeous part of our country. And, you get the amazing panoramas of Monument Valley thrown in. A wonderful way to expose yourself to the "Mighty Five"..........and then some!!

Ran out of adjectives to describe the daily experiences and beauty! Not only was the scenery and experience in the parks, national and state, marvelous but the tour guides were exceptional! Highly recommend this tour!

We saw hundreds of amazing sights on this trip. If you like geology & rocks, you'll love it. Be sure to up your fitness level so you can enjoy the hikes. Strongly suggest going in cool weather as we did Oct 16 - 25. Heat would be miserable.

Fantastic. There's nothing like being there to get an idea of scope of the lansdscape. A geologist was with us each day and she explained the land formations we were seeing. My favorite part was the Aspen forest and seeeing Maynard Dixon's former property--it looked just like his paintings. Our guide, Rhonda, was great and a big help--she gave us tremendous support. We saw some beautiful country and now understand how it all came to be. We loved meeting everyone in our group and they were thoughtful, warm and delightful company. We had a health problem on the trip and we can't say enough words to explain how wonderful Road Scholar was in helping us return home. We highly recommend this trip.

I came as a tourist curious to see the National Parks of Utah—Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Arches, and Canyonlands-- and I came away with a sense of awe that I can only describe as a spiritual experience.
This was an unforgettable journey through the deep geologic history of the Colorado Plateau. Each stop seemed to reveal a new chapter in Earth’s history from the ancient sand dunes of Zion, now spectacular sandstone cliffs, to the ice and rain sculpted hoodoos of Bryce Canyon. Capitol Reef’s tilted layers told tales of continental collisions; Arches revealed the delicate balance between strength and fragility in its graceful spans; and Canyonlands opened before us as a vast labyrinth of time, carved by the patient persistence of the Green and Colorado Rivers.
Our group leader, instructor and bus driver were all top notch. The logistics were flawless. Our group was composed of kind, curious travelers whose shared awe fostered camaraderie at every viewpoint or picnic stop.
The Grand Circle delivered far more than stunning panoramas—it offered a profound connection to the planet’s deep history and a renewed sense of wonder. For anyone seeking beauty, knowledge, and inspiration, simply make this journey.

My head is exploding from all that I experienced. Our leaders, Eldon and Diane, were among the very best I have encountered on many tours. This is one of the best ways to get acquainted with the parks in Utah. Now I would love to return on my own and go at a slower pace to visit each park. October was the perfect time weather wise to visit.

My wife and I have visited many national parks and monuments over the years, but this trip was the best time spent in the glorious splendor of these marvelous places. Our tour took us into not just national properties, but several state parks and Navajo Nation holdings. We could not have asked for more in-depth viewing and discovery. The tour began in St. George, Utah with a nice lecture by an anthropologist which gave us a solid grounding about the people who have inhabited this area for thousands of years. We were further fortunate to have Janice, our "resident geologist," accompany us the entire time. Janice is a professional geologist. She worked hard to make sure that we understood as much as we could retain about not just the beauty of the landscapes we viewed but how they were deposited, uplifted and and eroded into the majesty they exhibit today. Many of us expressed the wish that she had been our professor in the college geology courses we took years ago!Jan, our tour guide and Jae, our driver, kept us on schedule and made sure everything worked with precision as we motored from site to site. Our tour took place, and this review is written, during the federal shut down. Utah, to its great credit, kept all national park and national monument sites open the entire time we were there. Thank you, Utah! My only discordant comment is about the size of our group. We had 35 people attend. While the bus we used had plenty of space and we were all comfortable, the size of the group created delays getting on and off and picking up our luggage at each overnight stop. Road Scholar, in it's current listing for thus tour, mentions that it is a "small group" tour. Ours was not. Size notwithstanding, this tour is a great way to see many spectacular land forms, learn about ancient peoples and gain an understanding about the lives of Native people who currently live in this region.

The best of Utah's Grand Circle of Parks and Monuments was an amazing trip! It was fascinating and informative ~ we learned so much! The experienced leaders ran the program seamlessly, giving us participants a very smooth, safe, and enjoyable vacation. It also challenged us to keep up with the other participants, so as not to miss any interesting information or scenery. A very worthwhile trip, overall!

The trip was great, very educational. Our leader was very informative and had a great sense of humor as did his wife. We had a terrific group of people in our group, all very friendly, kind to one another as we all got along well with one another. I highly recommend the trip and Road Scholar.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip exploring southern Utah. The knowledge and expertise of our leaders greatly enhanced our education of what we were seeing in the national parks. Not having to deal with making travel arrangements or accommodations was a great way to see this beautiful part of our country.

This was an awe inspiring, spiritual adventure l would recommend to anyone. It was especially appreciated by older adults like us who love to travel and learn more about our world with every aspect of the trip organized perfectly!

What an enjoyable trip this was - the scenery, the leaders and our group were awesome. Learning about the geology and culture really added to the enjoyment. Getting out and walking, the float trip and getting to places early to avoid crowds made it fun. Our leaders the 3 J's were local and great story and history tellers. The first hotel did not tell us where to find the RS sign in. It was down a hall with no signs, near the meeting rooms. This was a fantastic trip.

This trip is well planed out and covers a lot of parks. The scenery is fabulous and the hikes described accurately. The geology Guide was a wealth of knowledge, and presented the info in an understandable way. The trip organizer was on task and kept us informed and on time.

Great way to see the Big 5 National Parks, even in the middle of US Gov't shutdown. Program provided inner canyon access to Zion, parking/drop off to allow time to explore the parks, lodges, and visitor centers. Good history, appreciation of natural and cultural resources, and friendly, knowledgeable leaders. Give Road Scholar a try for your next adventure!

Our experience on "The Best of Utah's Grand Circle of Parks and Monuments" trip was wonderful. We cannot recommend it highly enough. It was day after day of awe inspiring scenery. Jan, Jae and Jessica were an amazing team. Jan kept us well organized, with every detail planned out. There was never a glitch in the plans. Jae's driving skills were exceptional, and he handled the bus with ease. Jessica was amazing. She provided a wealth of geological information and history about this incredible area of the country, and answered every question in understandable layman's terms (even those we may have asked multiple times previously). These three people were very friendly, considerate of all, and knew the region well, creating a great environment for our group.

The Best of Utah's Grand Circle of Parks and Monuments is a trip not to be missed! Spectacular vistas, wonderful tour leaders, and a wide range of activities to let us appreciate the beauty and grandeur of our glorious country.

The tour was outstanding! The tour covered so many totally fabulous sites. Each day was well organized and allowed both a combination of guided tours and time on our own.
The program coordinator, Jan Maxfield, was well organized, friendly, and easy to talk to about the trip details. We all felt 100% safe with the drive, Jae Maxfield.
The program instructor, Phil Moore, was exceptionally well-qualified to explain the geologic formations, plant life, and local history. He made sense of everything we saw and everywhere we went.
The hotels were acceptable. The bus was comfortable, but we were disappointed that it didn't have seatbelts. The quality of the food varied considerably from acceptable to exceptional.
I wholeheartedly recommend this trip!

We were on the same trip as Cara and I echo her comments. This was our first time traveling with Road Scholar and it exceeded all expectations! Our trip leaders (Maggie, Jennifer, and geologist Janice) were fabulous, as was our driver, Mark. We enjoyed meeting the other people in our small group and we all got along very well. We learned so much about the formations of these parks and about Utah in general. This trip was very well organized and allowed us to see everything we had hoped to see. I also really liked that, once we arrived at the parks, we had choices of hikes so that everyone could be comfortable with the level of physical activity. This allowed us to explore as we chose to and not always in a group.
Thank you, Road Scholar! We will be back!

the grand circle utah trip was our first road scholar experience. not only were we new to this kind of travel, we were also the youngest in the group. however, it surpassed our expectations! the team who led us was phenomenal—passionate, respectful, organized, caring—and the 22 other people who accompanied us were amazing! there is no way that we would have seen, experienced, and learned as much as we did had we gone this on our own. i cannot say enough about how incredible an adventure this was! A+++ a trip of a lifetime!

Enough praise cannot be heaped on our three leaders, Mic, Mel, and Diana. Mel drove with expertise, Mic related charming anecdotes, and Diana, a real live archaeologist, gave us an incredible introduction to the geological formations and insights about the archaeological sites we visited. This was a wondrous journey through Utah’s diverse parks. Edge of the Cedars’ Museum was exceptional and here the archaeology of a pueblo settlement gave a tangible insight to this way of life. Pit stops were even fun, especially the Dino Sinclair that sold scorpion popsicles. We saw an Indian presentation, floated down the Colorado, and visited small towns as well as tourist vistas like Moab. I can’t rave enough about the differences and magnificence in the parks and this journey of discovery with Road Scholar.

Utah National Parks and Monuments exceeded my expectations. We saw so many wow places and learned so much about the geology and native and pioneer cultures of the places we visited. Phil Moore and Dan D. were a super team and got us to many extra places that I loved including Goblin valley and even the two rims of the Grand Canyon. I love the southwestern landscape and thanks to this trip I saw so much of its beauty and wonder. I’ll never forget these parks and places and Antelope Canyon was beyond spectacular! Thank you Road Scholar for an A+ trip for our instructors, leader, and all we saw and hiked through.

Utah's Grand Circle was a terrific overview of Utah's Big Five national parks, plus several interesting state parks I likely otherwise would never have seen. And then we took in a raft trip in Glen Canyon, saw California condors at Navajo Bridge, caught some views at Monument Valley, and experienced the Antelope Valley slot canyon. The views were stunning, and we have ample photographs to help us remember. It is remarkable what nature can do with sedimentary rock given 250 to 300 million years to deposit it, uplift it, and erode it.

I had a wonderful time on this trip! Eldon and Diane were fabulous leaders, handling all the itinerary details and some unexpected changes (like the cancelled rafting trip) seamlessly; I so appreciated some of the additions to the itinerary like Goblin Valley State Park (not to be missed! Please make this a planned addition to the itinerary for future participants!) I learned so much about geology, and was able to retain it even now -- which shows what a great teacher Eldon was. Loved all his remarks about other things as we passed them en route, which made some of the longer driving days very interesting. And Paul was the best driver -- I always felt safe and comfortable with him, and he was unfailingly cheerful! The group was congenial and mixed well with each other, and I can't recommend this trip highly enough!

This was a superb 5* tour, and without question, a not to be missed tour especially if you enjoy and appreciate our natural environment. As a tourist, it is immensely enjoyable to see and photograph all the unusual and unique geological features in Utah’s national and state parks. Janice, our outstanding guide, geologist and assistant professor from Utah Tech provided numerous handouts, ingenious hands-on demonstrations and almost nonstop commentary to explain how and how long ago these features were formed. Both at our scheduled stops and
while traveling on the bus, Janice provided us with interesting videos, printed handouts and stories about what we were seeing. Dave was our most capable, knowledgeable and friendly bus driver, and at times assistant tour guide. Sandy capably took care of all the trip logistics, with an efficiency that helped us make time for some unscheduled and very worthwhile stops. Our RoadScholar team handled every aspect of our trip, including those many extras in our official itinerary, flawlessly. We were so fortunate to have them and accordingly we highly recommend this tour and RoadScholar.

This trip exceeded my expectations. Rhonda, Diana, and Jae facilitated our experience to the nth degree. I would rate them 11 out of 10. The activities and sites were varied and well thought out, including the rest stops.
I am so glad that the Colorado float trip and Antelope Canyon were included, even though they are not in Utah. Antelope Canyon was what attracted me to choose this trip in the first place. This is the first small group trip that I have done and I will definitely choose that as the way to go in the future. Within 3 days, I knew the names of my 23 fellow travelers and we all interacted and mixed throughout the trip. Thanks to Road Scholar, our leaders and my fellow travelers for making this an exceptional experience.

We had an expert instructor who readily shared the history, culture, geology and nature associated with the sites visited. The program was well organized and kept on track by an experienced group leader who provided consistent communications and skillfully managed group expectations and timeframes. Road Scholar provided the experience and relationships to optimize time and logistics such as to minimize my need to research, plan, schedule and book hotels, restaurants and attractions. You MUST experience the vast beauty and wide open vistas of Utah in person - photos just don't do it justice. We traveled a 1300 mile loop and saw 5 incredible National Parks. There were also state parks, hiking, a float trip, and museums. Each day got better and better - it's difficult to pick a favorite!
We had an outstanding team - Jae drove us on some pretty challenging roads and watched over us, Jan was always cheerful and kept us organized down to the last detail, and Dan shared his love of the geology of the area.
DO take the small group option - it makes a big difference!

This program delivers on what it promises! We traveled to many memorable locations. The weather was variable (30-90 degrees) when I went at the end of April, so pack for any weather/temperature. Dan and Dixie were wonderful leaders of our group. I wish there were more opportunities for different hiking levels. Some of the hotels were not that great, but realize that there are not a ton of choices in some of the more remote areas. So glad I took this trip and saw this amazing part of our country.

Wonderful trip with excellent leadership. We did the Utah Circle Tour that visited 5 National Parks.

This was a wonderful trip. Southern Utah is so different from any other part of the country, and it was great to get a taste of the national and state parks in the area. Trip leaders Darrell and Paula and bus driver Harry were all knowledgeable and fun to be around. The hiking is not terribly strenuous but you'll need to be in somewhat good shape. Yes, there is a good amount of time spent on the bus (a very comfortable bus) but that's unavoidable in order to traverse the distance between parks. If you've never been to Utah, this trip is a great place to start.

There are no superlatives that can adequately capture the experience; nor do pictures do justice to the lived experience. This has to be personally experienced. Our guides, Maggie, Phil, and Dan, worked together to create an even more spectacular and memorable experience. Aces all around.

Excellent way to see the Big 5 (and much more)! I wish Road Scholar had similar to other National Parks in other states other than Utah and Hawaii.

We started with Zion and thought the Utah trip could not get any better, but then there were HooDoos in Bryce, crazy canyon walks in Capitol Reef, wild Arches and swirling sandstone in Antelope Canyon. Janice, our guide, made geology exciting. She carried a magic packpack and pulled out a geiger counter, jar of marbles, or wooden fault blocks as demonstrations. I'll never look at layers in a hillside in the samy way. Janice, Patrick (group leader), and Kelly (bus driver) all grew up in Utah and told stories of nearly every town, mesa, and river we passed. The bus had electrical outlets for every seat, the sky was brilliant blue, spring flowers were in bloom, vermilion cliffs (along with strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, etc.) towered over us and condors welcomed us to the Colorado River. Everything was arranged for us: access to parks, monuments, restaurants, Navajo dinner with music and dancing, and there was always water for us on the bus. Janice gave us handouts, power points, talks through earpieces, demonstratons, and kept encouraging us to learn about what we were seeing. She was excited to show us what has made her life's work and passion. Utah--a trip through the football field of time! (You'll have to go to get the reference :)

Our tour of the Grand Circle of Parks was, for us, the trip of a lifetime! We have wanted to tour this area of the country for a long time, but had no idea it would be so breathtaking in it's natural beauty. We learned so much and enjoyed every minute of our trip!

The Best of Utah’s Grand Circle trip was well planned in a beautiful part of the US to efficiently cover many more places than we would have been able to do on our own. The leaders knew the best sites for viewing in each park and had good alternatives for bad weather and several very enjoyable extras. A great trip.

The program was extremely well organized. We were able to see everything and then some. Diane and Eldon did a fantastic job taking us each day to sites even more spectacular than the amazing sites we saw the day before. We've been on many Road Scholar programs, and while all were great, this one will stay with me.

Our tour leaders Darrell & Paula, along with our driver Harry, were a great team; together they made our trip quite welcoming & memorable. There was a great deal of variety on this trip with both U.S. & state parks, museums, hiking, a float trip, performances, demonstrations, surprise side-trips, interactions with townspeople, sing-alongs on the bus, and engaging geology talks with group participation. There was truly something for everyone. Our hotels met all our needs, the food was plentiful (we ate too much!) & the bus was comfortable. We were very glad that we took the small group option, which undoubtedly made everything flow more smoothly.

An absolutely delightful trip from start to finish. Geologist Phil Moore and Group Leader Maggie Francke were the best - organized, informative and entertaining. We were amazed that the landscape every single day was so different from the day before. We covered 1,300 miles in 10 days - a great itinerary. We thoroughly enjoyed all the other participants in this small group tour. Loved it and only left wondering what took us so long to get there. First RS trip - already signed up for 2 more!

If you want to be continually awed by the majestic beauty of Utah's State and National Parks and Monuments, learn about Navaho culture, and Pioneer history, then this program is for you. We had an intense 8 full days but we learned a lot and knew to which parks we would like to return for a future hiking trip.
Our instructor, Janice, was not only an expert geologist with a great sense of humor, but a warm and kind human being. Likewise, Donna and Patrick made sure that everything went smoothly. Thank you to the entire team and our wonderful fellow Road Scholars for making this trip a truly memorable one. Five stars.

An unforgettable trip, Darrel our trip leader provided us with a detailed explanation and visuals of the geological processes that created the landscaping observed in The National Parks of ZION with it's temples and towers, BRYCE with its hoodoos, CAPITOL REEF with it's dome-shaped mountains, CANYONLANDS with it's canyons, plateaus and needles, ARCHES with the highest concentration of natural arches with the world famous Delicate Arch, and ANTELOPE SLOT CANYON which is quiet unique with shafts of light beaming in through the canyon making stunning views. Included were many hikes, museums to visit, petroglyph panels to observe, a flat water float study trip with a pontoon raft at the Colorado river, a traditional dance presented by the the Navajo tribal members and more. While on the road we could observe the indescribable scenic views along the highway. Paula made sure that everything was on time and as expected, with her warm demeanor took good care of us all. The camaraderie and friendly approach of each traveler made the trip so much fun. A trip not to be miss.

I would highly recommend this program ESPECIALLY if Darrell and Paula are the leader/coordinator. Group leaders Eldon and Diane were extremely knowledgeable and informative about the history, geology, and beauty of nature. The trip was a perfect balance of sightseeing, hiking, and entertainment. Our group became close knit in our time together. I plan to keep in touch with several other Road Scholars. This trip fulfills several life-long dreams.

This program really enables you to take in all the beautiful scenery in Southern Utah. Janice our geology guide was a font of information. She really knows the geology of this region and does such a great job of making it easy to understand. I will probably need to review my handouts to retain it, there is so much. I think I would always like to have a little more time for independent exploration, but the nature of this trip is to get the main flavor of the park and move on. We cover a lot of territory. Maggie our group leader, and Paul our driver were wonderful in getting us places and making sure the accommodations and food were ready. I would highly recommend if you wish to see all that Utah has to offer and that you are willing to be on the go.

If my computer would let me, I'd give this trip a five star rating.
Beautiful incredible scenery and excellent guides. Bus driver Jae did a superb job on the sometimes long rides. I thought we had ample time for hiking (2-4 miles a day for me). You do spend a lot of time on the bus but it's comfortable and there'd be no other way to do as much. Bring your walking sticks and know Utah has weird liquor laws. Did I mention the scenery? Truly a trip of a lifetime.

Trip was outstanding. I am already planning another trip, perhaps in the Fall. All three tour leaders were helpful, patient and knowledgeable. I do have three suggestions:
1. I can’t remember which night, but in the first few days we were at a national park that gave nighttime hikes to see the stars. Our hotel was not that far away. This option would have been great if it were offered and added to the trip for those that wanted to do it.
2. This might be more difficult. On the float trip, we saw a lot of kayakers doing the same route at the same time. As an avid kayaker, I would have loved to have the option, even if it cost more, to make the trip via kayak instead.
3. All the food was wonderful, except for the dinner at the university. Food was awful. There were not enough seats, silverware, glasses, plates, etc. But the dessert was good.
All in all, I’m recommending this trip to everyone I know. Well done!
Diane

I just completed my first RoadScholar Trip and it was the best vacation of my life. Four Reasons for you to PICK Road Scholar.
1) P = Peace of Mind.
I did not have to set a route or an itinerary. I did not have to juggle details with selecting a hotel or a restaurant. I did not have to drive a single mile, but could sit back and relax.if there was a hiccup in the program, someone else was going to be an advocate and solve it for our group.
2) I = Informative.
I absolutely loved that the trip was designed for life long learners. Our instructor was knowledgeable, competent and capable. He encouraged questions and supported my curiosity.
3) C = Community.
Even though I traveled solo and didn't know anyone before the trip, I never felt alone. Other life long learners were welcoming an easy to meet. I wasn't travellng by myself, but as part of a small community.
4) K = Keep Exploring and Growing.
Road Scholar has a great system of various experiences, that, no matter what I'm looking for, I can always keep exploring and keep growing, even if traveling solo.
That's why I'd encourage you to PICK a Road Scholar trip if you have not yet done so.

This trip went beyond our expectations. Our leader, Sally and driver, G. provided more information that we ever imagined. Their knowledge of the sites visited, geology, history, native Americans...we could go on. They really made the trip extraordinary. They shared the Hidden Gems that we might never find on our own. They afforded us ample opportunity to experience the sites within the timeframe anticipated according to our itinerary. They made numerous accommodations to individuals who had arrived with injury and limitations. They went out of their way to go beyond to provide us with a rewarding experience. We would travel with them as our leaders anywhere. This was our first Roads Scholar experience and they really made it special. Many many thanks to Sally and G. for providing us with all that was necessary to make this a trip of a lifetime for us. We can't stop talking about what a wonderful trip we had.

WOW!!!This trip was awesome. From the breath taking scenery to the most outstanding tour team I've ever encountered. It was led by tour director Darrell, an expert geologist with a Bob Newhart sense of humor, assisted by his wife Paula, a logistics Queen extraordinaire, and driver Harry, guru of twisty park roads. I was especially impressed with the way they provided three hiking/walking groups; fast, medium and slow. Having lived my whole life at sea level and even though I walk 4 miles a day, I was not prepared for the 8300' elevation at Bryce Canyon. So I was thrilled to be able to enjoy the walk in Paula's sedate walking group. At the lower elevation at Zion, I was very comfortable in Harry's medium speed hiking group and picked up speed on the other hikes. Paula's Native American flute playing in one of the slot canyons was magical, a true highlight! The float trip down the Colorado River from Glen Canyon Dam was exhilarating. Finally, my photos from the tour of Antelope Canyon got the most likes on my face book page. Go on this trip! You will be awed and amazed!!!

This was our third RS trip, one very different from the others, and the first US trip. It was truly breathtaking and inspirational. Darrell was incredibly knowledgeable and Paul went out of her way to make things easier for all. Harry was a truly exceptional driver.
Best things: the scenery, no question about it, as well as the educational aspect. The trip was a good balance of very active and low key excursions. The group was fun and engaging.
Worst things: While the trip was a true value, some of the food was not good, particularly the sandwiches, amazingly enough. I'm ok with box lunches, but these weren't good. I also would have also appreciated a smaller group experience.
None of that took away from the absolutely awe inspiring and almost spiritual experience of seeing nature's best. It was also fun to meet people from all over the world who came to see the best our country has to offer. Even better than the Grand Canyon in my opinion, since each of the Parks and sites offered unique geology.

This program visited ten spectacular Utah parks in ten days. Each day seemed better than the last. The schedule was busy but everything fit like clockwork. The instructor and group leader were friendly and helpful. Participating in this program was like taking a college course in geology, with a new field trip every day.

If you are worried about the level of activity, don't be! There are options so you most likely will be satisfied whether you are having a high energy or low energy day. You will love the spectacular scenery--this is a spiritual as well as an educational experience.

This was a fabulous trip! The itinerary was great, so much to see in 11 days. We had a group of 32 and I truely enjoyed everyone's company. Best of all were our guides: Marcia and Kelly, and Diana. They were all amazing! Knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, just a joy to travel with and learn from. Marcia was the lead guide and she was so well prepared and her ancedotes were entertaining but not the least bit hokey. Beautiful and calming speakng voice. Her husband Kelly drove the bus but was also a full participant guide. And Diana, an archeologist, how fortunate we were to have her on board the whole time. I only want Road Scholar travel in the future. This was my second trip and I'm sold! You get so much value for the money. I am endlessly curious in new places and to have ALL my questions answered so fully --can't beat that. Can't wait to book my next adventure.

What a wonderful experience! Program was exceptional! We packed a lot in a few days! It was just long enough to learn so much, see so much, travel so far!
Great insight from various knowledgeable people.

Our Road Scholar trip was educational, well planned, and fun. Our hosts, Marcia and Kelly, and Diana, the archeologist/geologist, were a wonderful fit with our group. Everyone without exception enjoyed their company.

This program is a fabulous way to expand your experiences in National (and state) Parks. There is some bus riding involved but the scenery is fantastic !

NOT FOR POSTING
I had to call. Page 5 of 5 only partially displayed.
They had me close the page and open it again, which yields all of page 5.
I did not reenter pages 1-4.
All should be okay now.

What a spectacular trip! Our guides, George and Denise Otott, and our driver Jae, were so great. George, as a geologist, gave us all the insight to understand what we were looking at, and Denise filled in the rest with history and community. We saw so much! I'm encouraged to try another trip west to see more -- there's a lot left to see! Five + stars!

This program provides a splendid coverage the major National Parks and Monuments of the Utah area. The daily schedules are filled with fascinating scenery. The bus riding described sounds daunting, but is well broken up into interesting excursion forays. Would recommend!

This was a wonderful trip. Well planned. Appreciated been driven around. Maybe its was the altitude, but I got pretty tired during the trip. Getting up early was a challenge. Be prepared for Altitude Sickness. The geology revealed the Earth's ancient past. Beautiful rises and sunsets.

We saw so much in the ten days. Utah is incredible and the learning experience was very valuable to me. The
leaders and the bus driver were terrific. There were little “surprises” along the way and all my fellow travelers were friendly and interesting to talk to. Good food clean accommodations and altogether a very pleasant journey.

This was a great experience. Denise, George and Jay helped us navigate our Utah experience. The information on geology, the wonderful group we traveled with and the different experiences made this a memorable trip.

What an exciting and thorough trip to the big five national parks of Utah, and inclusion of some state parks too. Antelope Canyon and Arches are not to be missed. Capital Reef State Park was a hidden gem and not crowded - what a joy! Our guides were very knowledgeable and professional, friendly, and able to smooth over any snafu. Can’t wait to to on my fifth trip with this Road Scholar group.

This is a fabulous bus trip with just the right amount of hiking and, if you are really interested in Geology, this tour is extremely informative. Where else can you visit all these national parks without driving or making all the necessary reservations?

A very well organized and informative program. You will see the beauty that this part of the country offers, like non other. Shuttle service from LAS airport to Dixie University Hall, is a bargain and on time. Extra nights at University Hall was a nice touch to accommodate your airline schedule.

Utah's Grand Circle of Parks and Monuments is well worth taking. The beauty and diversity of each of the Mighty Five is hard to describe in words and needs to be seen. The other stops on trip were just as breathtaking - especially Antelope Slot. Go and see this amazing area for yourself

This is an excellent program to visit the National Parks of Utah as well as Dead Horse Point State park. They are all very beautiful.

This program allowed us to see an amazing array of sights/locations that we would not have been able to string together on our own. The parks were beyond astonishing, the river trip was wonderful, and museums added to our understanding of the natural and cultural history of the area. There were always multiple options for hiking, and the leaders/instructors went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable, knew what we were supposed to be doing, and where we were supposed to be when. We've recommended it over and over to friends.

I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure. Beautiful scenery around every corner, a great learning experience and an activity level that was just right for me, but was also flexible for others.

The itinerary for this trip was outstanding. We saw and experienced such a range of different locations. I particularly liked Antelope Canyon and the rafting trip on the Colorado, which was a more than adequate substitution for the Lake Powell boat trip. Our instructor, Paul, group leader, Mary Ann and driver Mike were outstanding plus we had a great group (although large at 40 people) of fellow travelers.

One of the best vacations we've had. Our organizer kept everyone on time and happy. Our leader was extremely knowledgeable and the talks and hikes were great. After the trip ended our group continued to connect online and I now have some of the best photos I've ever taken. A great experience.

This trip was so fabulous! We were so thankful to finally get to do the trip. The parks were so marvelous, the hiking, the unique scenery, everything was perfect! Eldon, Diane, and the bus driver, Mike, were the best! The places we stayed were mostly very nice and comfortable. We had almost enough time at the different locations and some down time in the evening to rest. We really did see so many places, national and state parks. Eldon was so knowledgeable about the area, a geologist himself, such a great asset on the bus to explain things to us. And the best photographer! He gave us such a gift of the presentation he put together of a lot of photos with music! It's just superb and will keep our memories alive for out lifetime. Diane was kind and helpful. Mike was so courteous and did anything we asked him to, very professional.
Thank you, Road Scholar! This tour has really sold me on using Road Scholar again!

It was an overall wonderful trip! Darrell and Paula were very knowledgeable, pleasant, and fun. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking! I do wish we'd spent less time at visitor centers and more time at the National Parks. While the visitor centers were interesting, the parks were SO much more, and because we'd spent significant time at the visitor centers, we ended up rushed at some of the parks. All in all, though, it was a magical learning experience I'd do again in a heartbeat!

This was a spectacular trip of the National Parks and Monuments of Southern Utah. My heart soared with the beauty and miracles of nature. I have returned home with more confidence in my physical ability to "keep up" and sustain an active trip. It was a privilege to be with the staff and lovely group of people. A true learning and fun vacation!

This trip was our first with Road Scholar, and it was fantastic! Our leadership team of Paula, Darrell, and Paul, our driver, was exceptional. As one of them said, "every ten steps there's another awesome view."
The historic and geological insights were most helpful (even though we couldn't pass the test now!), and we especially appreciated the use of local resources unique to this experience.
We are still sorting and choosing our pictures to tell others about this outstanding experience, which we highly recommend.

I have been blessed to have been able to travel to many incredible places on the earth (Antarctica, Africa, Israel, Jordan, Bhutan, Ireland, England, Norway etc.) always thinking that I would go to see the Grand Canyon when I was too old to take the other 10-18 hour trips elsewhere) and though I'm not that old yet, nothing prepared me for the astonishing experience of this trip. It was magnificent!

If travel is the best education, I would say that I now find myself very well educated about Utah and its wondrous parks, thanks to our guide George, a geologist & raconteur par excellence, as well as his ever-cheerful teammate, wife Denise, who took care of the many nitty gritty details. Together this superb team helped improve our knowledge and awareness of the very foreign environment (to us) of the amazing Utah parks. We chose this 10-day tour because it was so complete; it checked all the boxes for us and we really saw and learned an incredible amount--so glad that we finally experienced all this unparalleled U.S. natural beauty!

Having never been to southern Utah, this trip showed us the beauty, the vastness and the differences between the parks. This 10 days was a wonderful way to get introduced to this part of America.
— Review left May 27, 2019
This trip exceeded our expectations. Besides experiencing 5 spectacular national parks and several state parks, we learned about the history, geology, geography, and archaeology of southern Utah and traveled with a wonderful, fun, interesting group of people, and a great instructor, group leader, and bus driver who helped make this trip one to remember! (I had never hiked before and have a temperamental hip, so I was grateful for the hiking poles I brought along.) My husband and I are truly enjoying sharing our trip with friends and family!

I preferred the second part of the program, which included American Indian family and a guide. . I like to walk but not to climb up and down steep or bumpy areas.

Wow! What a great way to see Utah's national parks and monuments. I enjoyed the lectures and the other participants and walking around in such beautiful settings. Our teacher, Janice, was a geologist with actual work experience with the places she described for us and led us through. I'm glad someone else was driving, so I could look out the window without interruption. The accommodations were just fine. We ate too much food, but I could have exercised more restraint. The group leader, John, was quite successful in getting 38 people on the bus and getting to meeting sites on time. Be prepared to get up early and have your eyes tired from looking at so many beautiful sites, each one more beautiful than the last.

The Utah and Arizona national parks trip was wonderful. The sites I had seen in dozens of movies proved to be as fantastic in real life as they had in cowboy movies I had watched seventy years ago! While Zion and Bryce parks were my favorites, Monument Valkyrie was simply incredible for natural beauty. We have been on ten Road Scholar trips, both domestic and international, and this trip is one of the very best. If you have wanted to see the far west and all it’s natural beauty, this is the trip for you. Miles in North Carolina

This is truly a SPECIAL tour!! The guides and driver were exceptionally knowledgeable about the area which made the experience INCREDIBLE! As we were taken to some of the most astonishing places on earth, we learned and explored many aspects including but not limited to geology, astronomy, history, stories and folklore. Always felt confident and safe and well fed with convenient accommodations. Can't say enough good things about this trip!!!

All I can say, now, ten days after returning from Utah, is WOW! The scenery is gorgeous and so enhanced by Phil Moore's knowledge - and especially his sharing of that knowledge - of geology and the geological origins of the national parks and other sites we visited. This my ninth Road Scholar tour and my favorite of all of them. In addition, Lori Moore kept us smiling and feeling good - and well-organized - about what we were experiencing. I felt comfortable, well-fed, safe, awestruck, and educated.

This program is excellent, combining the beauty of the area with cultural and local education. Phil & Lori make an excellent team, providing a fun trip for all. It is great to ride, look & listen without stress. You will not look for parking, you will arrive at parks before the crowds, you will stop at the best areas. You will have a great time. TAKE THIS TRIP!!!

Utah is beautiful, and we felt that the areas that we were able to visit were wonderful. Our guides on the trip were excellent! We learned a lot about the geology and history of the area. I also enjoyed learning about the Navajo Indians and their culture. I really don't have any criticisms of the experience--I would recommend the trip to others.

This was my first trip after my retirement. I went alone and often wondered why this was my first, desired destination. I know now it is because of the profound wonderment of the parks in Utah included in this excellent trip. To have organized this alone would never have afforded me the comfort, the ease. the history, the science and the anecdotes associated with the whole experience. This was a shared experience I will treasure for a lifetime thanks to the care of planning, the points of destination, the friendships, and the guidance of the leaders.
