Check into the hotel and rest.
Dinner:
Dinner will be at Kapok Hotel with Denise, the Trinidad site director. An in-country orientation will be held as well.

Explore the capital's botanical gardens and historic homes

There is a fair amount of walking, however, it will all be urban.
Breakfast:
In the hotel restaurant.
Morning:
Explore Port of Spain with a driving city tour and walk through their Royal Botanical Gardens. Take a tour of Mille Fleurs, a charming mansion that has a French Provincial architectural style.
Lunch:
Enjoy a scenic lunch at Paramin
Afternoon:
Take an agricultural tour at La Rose de Paramin. This is a family business that represents their community through tours.

A day of service learning with Fondes Amandes!

Activity Note
Plan to wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty this day. You will spend the morning learning about an inspiring organization called Fondes Amandes Community Reforestation Project. Enjoy a vegetarian lunch break, and then plan to do an hour or two of service alongside community members in their plant nursery. There is uneven and hilly terrain here.

Morning:
Meet local NGO leaders at Fondes Amandes. Learn the history of the community-based organization, and their approach to protecting their forests, fighting fires, and reforesting.
Lunch:
Enjoy a homemade lunch at Fondes Amandes. They are rastafarians, and the meal will be vegetarian.
Afternoon:
Work alongside Fondes Amandes community members in their nursery.
Dinner:
Dinner at Kapok Hotel
Evening:
Experience light night life on Ariapita Avenue. This hub is a staple in Trini night life and food culture. Their are several food and dessert trucks, and this will be your first chance to try a Trini classic called Doubles.

Welcome back to your friends at Fondes Amandes

You'll jump right back into the work that was left off the previous day. It is important to dress for the outdoors again. Expect uneven and hilly terrain again.

Breakfast at the hotel.
Morning:
Visit Fondes Amandes again and continue the work from the day before.
Lunch:
Enjoy a vegetarian home cooked meal at Fondes Amandes
Afternoon:
Learn more about Trinidad's Carnival traditions and celebrations at the Carnival Museum.

Visit Lopinot village and enjoy their very own chocolate

Activity Note
There will be a windy ~45minute bus ride to Lopinot Most of the tour will happen outdoors, so pack comfortable walking shoes and bring sun protection. The chocolate making demonstration will happen indoors. After that visit, there will be a 2.5 hour ride to Matura.

Morning:
Visit the quaint village of Lopinot and their community-based tourism program. You will walk around with Donna to learn about the history, the landscape, and their cocoa productions.
Lunch:
You will have lunch at a local restaurant in Lopinot.
Afternoon:
You will depart Lopinot and head to Matura, which is about a 2.5 hour drive.
Dinner:
You will have dinner at Nature Seekers

A tour of Nature Seekers and their turtle conservation work.

You will take a tour of Nature Seekers compound, learn about the work that they do, and then contribute to a service project: TBA.

Get a well-rounded introduction to Nature Seekers, a community-based organization dedicated to the protection of the leatherback sea turtle.
Lunch:
Enjoy a meal with folks at Nature Seekers.
Afternoon:
Work alongside Nature Seekers staff and volunteers on a service project.

Eco-tourism with Nature Seekers

In the morning, there is a 20 minute hike to a water fall. Pack and dress accordingly. In the afternoon, you will learn about their upcycled jewelry making program and participate yourself.

Embark on a 30 minute hike in the woods to a waterfall alongside Nature Seeker's staff.
Lunch:
Lunch at Nature Seekers
Afternoon:
Work alongside Nature Seekers staff and volunteers on a service project.

Service and learning with Nature Seekers

In the morning, you will hike to Mermaid pool. It is important to wear sturdy shoes and dress accordingly. In the afternoon, you will do a service project: TBA.

Morning:
Embark on a 30 minute hike in the woods to a lagoon called Mermaid Pool alongside Nature Seeker's staff.
Lunch:
Lunch at Nature Seekers
Afternoon:
Work alongside Nature Seekers staff and volunteers on a service project. Afterwards, say goodbye to the community members at Nature Seeker, and head back to Port of Spain (2 hour journey by bus).

Visit temples and see Trinidad's national bird in the wild

In the morning you will travel to the Temple in the Sea in Waterloo (40 minute ride) Have famous Roti for lunch. Afterward, you will go to the Caroni Bird Sanctuary. For this experience, you will be on a boat for approximately 2 hours in the swamp, observing Trinidad's nature and viewing the Scarlet ibis.

Morning:
Take a 50 minute bus ride to Waterloo, Trinidad, to experience the central region. This area is mostly populated by descendants of India and Hindu is the main religion. Take a tour of the Temple in the Sea / Hanuman Murti.
Lunch:
Have lunch at the famous Highway Roti shop, and then enjoy ice cream at A&J's ice cream shop afterwards.
Afternoon:
Take a 30 minute bus ride to the Caroni Bird Sanctuary. There, you will take a 2 hour boat tour, site seeing Trinidad's wildlife. You'll have the magical experience of seeing Trinidad's national bird, the Scarlett Ibis, as well as flamingoes and many other species.
