Morning:
Ride from the airport to Venice San Basilio terminal. Here, staff will collect and store your bags, and your group leaders will introduce themselves and lead you a short walk away to a private lecture hall, where you can enjoy refreshments and relax, or venture out to explore the winding, characteristic streets and canals of Venice.
Lunch:
On your own in Venice. Take the opportunity, if you desire, to indulge in a classic Italian pizza, or explore Venetian specialties such as seafood pasta or squid ink risotto.
Afternoon:
Return to the lecture hall for an Orientation meeting. Your Group Leader will greet everyone and lead introductions. We will review the up-to-date program schedule, discuss roles and responsibilities, logistics, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and answer questions. Next, join our program lecturer for an engaging exclusive introduction to Venice in the present day. Learn about the struggles facing the famous "floating city" and the city's efforts to overcome them, and gaze into the future to consider some of the possible directions the city may take. A short walk brings us back to the ship for embarkation. After completing boarding procedures and getting your cabin, take some time to unpack, freshen up, relax, and start becoming familiar with the ship. There will be a mandatory passenger briefing and safety drill.
Dinner:
Welcome dinner aboard the ship.
Evening:
At leisure aboard the ship or in Venice. Please note that your departure is part of our Floating Campus programs. All routes and excursions are subject to change – weather and sea conditions may affect the itinerary. Sea conditions affect the progress of the ship, making it run late and sometimes miss ports because it is not safe to dock. Because of this, the cruise itinerary should always be regarded as provisional. The operators reserve the right to change the content of excursions without prior notice. Aboard the ship, we will learn from a lecturer. In ports, field trips will be led by local experts. Program-related travel and transfers will be via private motor coach unless noted otherwise. Periods in the schedule designated as “Free time” and “At leisure” offer opportunities to do what you like and make your experience even more meaningful and memorable according to your personal preferences. Your Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions. Program activities, schedules, personnel, and indicated distances or times may change due to local circumstances or current conditions. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

Today, we will see ancient walls, Gothic palaces, and stone paved streets. Led by a local expert, we will walk to the Arsenal – described by the Venetians as “the most beautiful and the most useful building in the whole of Dalmatia” – that includes the first theater in the western world open to all classes (built in 1612).
