This program provided a wonderful array of educational opportunities, from mythology, history, archaeology, to carpet weaving and ceramics. The small-group format was excellent for getting to know fellow travelers and staying engaged with our tour group leader. The free time available left plenty of time for independent roving, shopping, or slowing down with an ouzo in a taverna. Greece, its people, and the Aegean are beautiful.

Our Greek Islands trip was great! We learned so much more than expected about the local history, culture, art and mythology. And the food was delicious and plentiful!

I never thought I would get to see Akrotiri, but Road Scholar made it possible. The history, the extent of the ruins, the work that has been done and has yet to be done! In addition, the human face of the ruins was revealed in the museum of artifacts collected from the site. An amazing experience. Thanks to Niki, our guide, and to Road Scholar!

Excellent program and the Variety Voyager was so fun! Nice rooms, spectacular crew, good food, and such a pleasure to be on! The day visiting Ephesus in Turkey was my favorite part of the program! So enjoyed exploring the smaller islands!

I've just returned from seven extraordinary days seeing the archeological sites of the Aegean plus Epheses in Turkey (preceded by two days in Athens that included the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum). It was the sort of adventure that I would have never have attempted to do on my own (and, if I had, it wouldn't have had half the content; and I never would have had such wonderful traveling companions). Our week on the Viking Voyager - a ship that accommodates just 72 passengers - was perfect. Our tour guide throughout was a rare mix of knowledge, enthusiasm and energy. Would I recommend this trip to others? In a heartbeat.

My tour of Athens, Greek islands and Ephesus was mythical, worthy of Zeus, Homer, and Socrates. Gained centuries of ancient knowledge and wisdom in eight days. Ate good moussaka, souvlaki, baklava. Did not drink hemlock.

In my experience, there is no other travel agency so dedicated to education, and willing and able to accommodate to the special needs of older participants.
