We just returned from a trip to Italy with our fabulous group leaders Domenico and Eduardo. It was a great tour with a variety of activities and in-depth learning. I highly recommend this trip!

Bravissima, Road Scholar! Bravissima! What a great journey in Sorrento and Naples. As usual, RS curated an excellent program of sights and events. Special recognition to Giorgia, Mimmo, Enrica, and Michelle for their *outstanding* and tireless efforts to make this journey unforgettable. I really can't think of enough adjectives to describe this delightful program.
RS has a well-deserved reputation for providing outstanding and varied educational experiences, so I'll focus on two things that reveal the depth of its planning and preparation. First, the day before my trip started, a major snowstorm was forecast to hit my airport. After the airline issued an advisory, I called RS and a terrific agent (Zee) got to work re-routing a flight. An hour later, the route was rescheduled! Second, I had an illness that required medication. RS had a physician on call who saw me *immediately* and prescribed the medicine I needed. I was back on my feet the next day. I was so impressed that seeing a physician seemed so seamless but, of course, it was Giorgia's, Mimmo's, and Michelle's behind-the-scenes work that made it seem so.
Finally, special recognition to Enrica, who must be the BEST tour guide ever! She led us through Pompeii, the Naples Museum, and other sites with a deep knowledge of and love for her culture. And she was so entertaining!
If you're thinking of doing this tour, stop thinking and sign-up! Premiere lodgings, great food, gorgeous scenery (so many lemons!), tour leaders who do an inspired job sharing their culture with you, and outstanding behind-the-scenes support. You cannot go wrong with this trip!

We paired this program with one in Sicily, so we came to Sorrento after about 8 days in Italy. Sorrento was beautiful and very "walker" friendly. Not sure this program should be called "at a slower pace." That title seems to mean there are fewer planned activities, so you have more "free" time--to choose what you do (or don't!). The activities included are NOT at a "slower pace." We had several participants (like us) that needed to walk a little slower, and the two leaders made many accommodations to be sure we were not left behind, but perhaps Road Scholar needs to be more clear about what they mean by "a slower pace." We have friends that could not keep up with the pace of the activities, yet we know they are specifically looking at programs labeled as "at a slower pace." I realize this was rated as "keep the pace," which seems to contradict "at a slower pace."
Okay, now about the program--loved Sorrento--how it felt comfortable to venture everywhere on our own. Pompeii was even more than when we first visited in 1993. Our first visit to Herculaneum was wonderful and we were so fortunate to be able to independently hire the same excellent guide we had for other excursions. Loved the visit to the farm and the cooking lesson, also the visit to the pasta factory--learned so much about Italian cooking! And then the visit to the chapel with the veiled Christ--what a moving experience to see such a remarkable sculpture!
Our tour guides did a great job taking care of a variety of personalities and abilities, and seemed always to be "looking out" for each of us.
You should definitely keep this program, and please consider changing the names of these "at a slower pace" programs to be clear that parts of the program are definitely at the pace indicated by the rating "on your feet."

This was a great tour and I highly recommend it to those who want more free time, while still enjoying what the area has to offer.

The program gave the participants time to explore on our own amazing areas of Italy!
