I loved seeing the landscape of the Cape: its forests, bays, ponds, inlets and shorelines, the towns and the people. I took the tour to get a more comprehensive view of the Cape than I had gotten during my many past family visits to the area where I had cousins, living in the New Bedford area. We always did some sightseeing of the Cape on those visits, but it was spotty since the focus of our visits was catching up with family. So I took this trip to see the Cape as I had not seen it previously. And that I did. And to visit with my cousins. The best parts of this tour for me were the kayaking and the whale watching, where we saw a pod of 20 Humpbacks frolic in the ocean. There was an emphasis on birds on this tour but although I love birds I am not a "birder," nor a "nature nerd" as Joy described herself. She organized the tour really well and had enormous amounts of information about the area and its wildlife that I could not always retain. The tour gave me the view that I wanted of Cape Cod: it was as if I had returned to a "home place" (the town my cousins live in is Mattapoisett, which, I was told, to Native Americans meant "place of rest"). And the food and transportation were excellent.

This was a very relaxing and easy trip. We saw a lot of what Cape Cod has to offer from the whales and seals and birds to the characters that live there- particularly in P- Town. I'd like to go back to Cape Cod on my ownLots of meal choices and I had the best food I've ever had on any of the RS trips that I've taken. Joy is the best Tour Leader ever. Great group of fellow Road Scholars

This is a very fine wildlife program, with emphasis on birds, sea mammals, and sharks. The group leader and resident naturalist, Joy, was very knowledgeable about everything we saw and studied, as well as being energetic, organized, unflappable and kind. We also enjoyed excellent lectures and presentations from other naturalists on the fauna around us and the efforts to protect and sustain those species. The tour also had lots of activities up and down the Cape: kayaking, seal and whale watching, dune exploration. (My only niggle is the amount of time on the bus, which of course couldn’t be helped, as we explored all the way to the very tip of Cape Cod.) The hotel was very comfortable, the food from good to excellent all along the way, and of course the happy fellowship of companionable Road Scholars from around the nation was great as usual. This is an excellent new program (ours was the first!).
