Our guide, Katherine Rojas Mendez was fabulous, couldn't have been better. She exceeds expectations. Katherine said at the outset, whatever you need, whenever you need it, I'm here for you. She was good to her word.
The women participating in the group were all fabulous. We had a great time together. We all stated the final night that the group was the best part of the trip.
This trip was billed as an adventure, and I would say it was that. I felt accomplished that I mostly kept up with the pace. Sometimes I felt 4 activities in one day was too much. I skipped all of the 6am bird watching. I did NOT enjoy the 2 muddy rain hikes. Then again I'm from Colorado where we hike in the mountains without rain and have fantastic vistas and experiences. Snow is not an issue for me but rain I am not accustomed to. Now I know jungle and muddy rain hikes are not my thing!
For some of us, it might have been good to somehow describe the hiking level of the jungle mud hikes. It felt strenuous walking up and down "stairs" in pouring rain. I used walking poles I was always concerned about slipping. Though Katherine was always there taking care of us
The lodging was very good, particularly the Guayabo Lodge. The food was mostly good but one gets tired of buffet lines, even when they change it up. It was good to eat out and perhaps more often. The Guayabo Lodge also served off a selected menu and the food and staff were fabulous!
The sugar cane and coffee plantation visits were unexpectedly enjoyable. Our evening speakers were all excellent!
I'm glad we got out of San Jose quickly. It might have been nice to see the museum there.
Maybe a few more days at the Playa Blanco at the end of the trip.
Also I think a second half day off might have been nice. The constant go-go led me to take a day off as did 2 others in our group. As I said, that left me with the experience of an adventure and NOT a vacation.
It was renewing being in nature and having every need taken care of.

Such an amazing experience! It was a good balance of learning and adventure. Everything was first rate, accommodations, food, lecture and excursions.

The active Rim to Shore women's trip was excellent. I loved both the educational aspect and the activities themselves. The guide and bus driver were terrific.

Just returned from "Costa Rica: Rim to Shore" program, and was very impressed by the itinerary and our leader Rebeca. We had so many adventures and saw many different areas of this beautiful country. The description of the program is very accurate and we were challenged by many amazing adventures like rafting, kayaking, ziplining, and much more. Awesome program and I'm SO glad I went.
