Havana, Cienfuegos & Trinidad: An Exploration of Cuba for Women

After you enroll, we’ll ask you to provide or update your personal information and preferences, which includes your health information, lodging and meal preferences for your program.

The following documentation is required for travel to Cuba per the airline and OFAC policy. -Proof of Return Flight (Airline Electronic Ticket) -Proof of Cuban Insurance (Your boarding pass will be stamped with this at your departure gate for your flight to Cuba). -We recommend that you bring your Final Information Packet with you as proof of the schedule of compliant-activities planned. -In order to comply with regulations set forth by the U.S. government, we will include a Proof of Compliance document with the Final mailing. Road Scholar programs to Cuba are designed to comply with the ‘Support for Cuban People’ general license category (§ 515.574), of which you will select from the 11 permitted categories of travel when checking in with your airline. Even though all Road Scholar Cuba itineraries include approved activities only, the U.S. government has the right to request receipts and records from your Cuba visit for up to 5 years after your return. It is the responsibility of the traveler to track and record their activities and interactions with Cuban people, and to keep this document for 5 years. This document, included at the end of your Final Information Packet, will help you do so and can be used as an archival resource. We have designed it so that you may add any modifications or notes to further document activities that support the Cuban people. Please keep alongside your valuable documents and complete with your notes throughout the program. The Group Leader will have limited spare copies in case of any misplacements. Please note that this form is an unofficial document and that one form is suitable for a household, please add all participating names at the top. Failure to present this documentation could result in your inability to travel to Cuba. Road Scholar has no control over the travel requirements set forth by OFAC and the airlines, and we have done our best to ensure that this information is as accurate as possible.

A passport is required for this program. It must be valid for at least 6 months after your return date.

This information about travel documents pertains to participants holding U.S. passports. Non-U.S. citizens should refer to their country's requirements to ensure they have the necessary documentation for travel.

Cuba

• Your passport must have 2 blank passport page(s) for entry/exit visas in this country.

• A travel visa is required and it must be obtained in advance.

• The cost of this visa is not included in the cost of your trip.

Please note: Cuban tourist cards (Visas) are now in electronic form. Visas cost $85 and can only be purchased online within 7 days of your departure for Cuba. Visas must be purchased before you check-in for your flight. To buy go to https://cubavisaservices.com/ and follow the instructions. You will also be required to fill out an electronic Customs/Health form (d'Viajeros form). Once you’ve completed the form you will receive a QR code with your completed form and Visa number. Print a copy of the QR code to bring with you and keep a copy on your phone. You will need to show the QR code to check in for your flight and upon arrival in Havana.

If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Marques De La Torre in Havana

Start of Trip:  4:00 p.m. hotel check-in, 6:00 p.m. Welcome Dinner; 8:30 a.m. Day 2 Orientation.

Getting to the site: An arrival transfer is organized for all participants who purchased an air inclusive program and arrive on the group arrival date. Transfer vehicles vary by group. Upon arrival, after customs and baggage claim, please exit to meet your Group Leader who will assist you to the coach which will have Road Scholar signage. If you have difficulty locating a Road Scholar representative or are delayed on arrival in any way, please contact your Group Leader or use the Emergency Contact (both numbers will be listed on your final itinerary). There may be a wait for other participants to assemble before your transfer departs. Please wear your name badge prominently when you arrive at the airport, so that you will be recognized easily. Please check with Road Scholar Travel Services for your latest air itineraries. (You will be notified by Road Scholar Travel Services if there is a schedule change.) Program Only Participants (POPs) must make their own way to the hotel in Havana at their own cost. Taxis are readily available outside the Customs Hall at the Havana Airport. The cost of the taxi transfer to the Hotel Marques de la Torre is $30 - $40 USD. Specific transfer information will be included in the Final Information Packet, sent 5-6 weeks before departure.

End of Trip: 5:30 a.m. for earliest departures and continuing depending on flight departure times; 12:00 Noon hotel check-out.

Program Only Participants (POPs) must make their own way to the Havana airport at their own cost. Please reach out to your Group Leader and/or hotel staff during your program to make the necessary reservations.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Participants who have not purchased airfare through Road Scholar are responsible for making their own transfer arrangements to the first site at the beginning of the program, as well as from the last site at the end of the program. The Information Packet Road Scholar sends in advance of the program includes details needed to make your transfer arrangements. If you wish to purchase airfare through Road Scholar, please call (800) 241-1404. Please note: In the unlikely event Road Scholar must make changes to the program's arrival or departure details, we will notify all participants as soon as possible. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
