In the mid-19th century, a group of visionary artists found inspiration in the breathtaking landscapes of the Hudson Valley, forming what became known as the Hudson River School. This movement not only defined American art but also influenced Western expansion and early conservation efforts. Join art educator and historian Suzanne Altman as she traces the origins of this movement, highlights its leading figures and showcases some of their most iconic works.

This live online experience uses Zoom Webinar, an easy-to-use web video service that includes closed captioning. All you need is an Internet connection and your computer. You will receive a confirmation email when you enroll, and a reminder email one week and one day before, as well as the morning of the event with a link and instructions on how to tune in. You will not be pictured on screen during the lecture, but you will have the opportunity to ask the instructor live questions using the Q&A box. Suzanne Altman is an art educator and historian with extensive experience in delivering lectures and courses on art history. She has conducted programs for a diverse range of educational and community groups primarily in the New York metropolitan area and, more recently, on Cape Cod. Suzanne is also a painter who currently works from her home studio in South Yarmouth and has exhibited widely.
