Join Dr. Spencer Jones, historian and author, as he unveils the early life of Thomas Edward Lawrence, who would later become the legendary 'Lawrence of Arabia.' This lecture traces Lawrence's journey from a troubled childhood in Oxford to his emergence as a promising archaeologist at Oxford University. Witness the transformation of Lawrence's life with the advent of World War I, as he transitions from academia to the covert world of British intelligence in Cairo. Explore the foundations of Lawrence's fascination with the Middle East and the initial steps that led to his legendary status.

Your online lecture will take place live over the course of 1-2 hours. All times are listed in the EASTERN time zone. If you live in a different time zone, please adjust your schedule accordingly. He is a Senior Lecturer in Armed Forces and War Studies at the University of Wolverhampton, UK, and serves in the British Army as the Regimental Historian of the Royal Artillery. His most recent publication is "The Darkest Year: The British Army on the Western Front 1917."
