After you enroll, we’ll ask you to provide or update your personal information and preferences, which includes your health information, lodging and meal preferences for your program.

A Parental Consent Form is required for minors and should be returned at least 5 weeks before the program start. This form must be signed by ALL custodial parent(s) / legal guardian(s) of the minor and notarized. Completed forms can be emailed to programadmin@roadscholar.org or mailed to Road Scholar, PO Box 56033, Boston, MA 02205.

A passport is required for this program. It must be valid for at least 6 months after your return date.

A signed Parental Consent form is required for this program. The form must be signed by both parent(s)/legal guardian(s) of the child participating in the program and returned to the program provider prior to the start of the program. You will receive the form as part of your program information packet. You will also be able to access the form through your online account.

If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Hotel Drei Könige Luzern in Lucerne

Start of Trip:  3:00 p.m. hotel check-in; 4:00 p.m. Orientation followed by Welcome Dinner.

Getting to the site: Follow the signs in the airport to take the train IR 75 from the airport to Lucerne. Please note, due to construction in the area this is not a direct train and you will have to change trains at Zurich HB in order to continue to Lucerne. Trains come every hour, the ride is about 1 hour and 21 minutes and the fee is 30 Swiss Francs CHF (tickets can be purchased at machines in the customs hall). The hotel is a 12 minute walk from the Lucerne station, or take bus 2, 12 or 18 to the "Hrizenhof" stop which is a 3 minute walk.

Getting to the site by train or bus: Trains and public buses all over Switzerland on a regular (usually hourly) schedule, boats as public transportation on many lakes, city buses in all bigger agglomerations. Check the websites: www.sbb.ch (for trains) and the city websites.

Your trip ends on: Sunday, August 2, 2026 in Rapperswill at Hotel Speer

End of Trip: 10:00 a.m. after breakfast; 12:00 Noon hotel check-out. Transfers continue throughout the day depending on transfer times.

Getting to the airport: Walk from the hotel to the Rapperswill SG station, approximately 5 minutes. From here, take a train to the airport (1 hour, 15 minutes). Due to construction in the Zurich area there is no direct train and you will will have to change trains at Zurich HB to continue to the airport. Your Rail Pass will cover the train cost on departure day. It is no longer valid after the program end day.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Participants who have not purchased airfare through Road Scholar are responsible for making their own transfer arrangements to the first site at the beginning of the program, as well as from the last site at the end of the program. The Information Packet Road Scholar sends in advance of the program includes details needed to make your transfer arrangements. Please note: In the unlikely event Road Scholar must make changes to the program's arrival or departure details, we will notify all participants as soon as possible. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
