Travel Documents for U.S. Residents Due to a recent change in the law, US residents arriving in Mexico by air from the United States need only a valid passport that does not expire within six months of your travel dates. When you land, your passport will be stamped at immigration, and that stamp serves as your official permit to stay—no separate tourist card is required. Travelers with other nationalities should check with their embassy or with Mexican immigration directly for the most up-to-date entry requirements. We also recommend carrying a photocopy of your passport and other required documents and storing them separately, in case the originals are lost or stolen.

If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Holiday Inn & Suites Guadalajara Centro Historico in Guadalajara, Jalisco

Start of Trip:  3:00 p.m. hotel check-in; 7:00 p.m. Welcome Dinner; Day 2 morning Orientation.

Getting to the site: Directions from the airport to the Hotel Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Guadalajara Centro Historico. Independent Airport Taxi Transfer Instructions: 1. Arrival at the Miguel Hidalgo International Airport 2. Proceed through Immigration, Baggage Claim & Customs 3. Proceed to the area outside the arrival gate. 4. Locate a Taxi Booth inside the airport to purchase a ticket that provides you a ride in a government sealed taxi, the fare to the hotel is approximately $25.00US 5. Show the flyer with hotel information to the Taxi Driver. (Found in the #2 mailed packet) 6. Transfer to the hotel 7. If the service warrants, you may wish to tip the driver 8. Getting to the site by train or bus: The Mexican bus system covers Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta.

Your trip ends on: Monday, November 22, 2027 in Puerto Vallarta, Jal at Hotel Sheraton Buganvilias Puerto Vallarta

End of Trip: 8:00 a.m. after breakfast; 1:00 p.m. hotel check-out.

Getting to the airport: The Group Leader will coordinate the airport transfers for participants who purchased the airfare through Road Scholar. Program Only Option Participants who purchased their own airfare can receive help from the program staff in making arrangements, knowing that the transfer cost is their responsibility.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Participants who have not purchased airfare through Road Scholar are responsible for making their own transfer arrangements to the first site at the beginning of the program, as well as from the last site at the end of the program. The Information Packet Road Scholar sends in advance of the program includes details needed to make your transfer arrangements. If you wish to purchase airfare through Road Scholar, please call (800) 241-1404. Please note: In the unlikely event Road Scholar must make changes to the program's arrival or departure details, we will notify all participants as soon as possible. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
