President’s Journey by Private Plane to Africa

After you enroll, we’ll ask you to provide or update your personal information and preferences, which includes your health information, lodging and meal preferences for your program.

A signed liability waiver is required before travel by one of the program providers (EXPLORE, Inc); this form is found at the back of the first informational mailing and contains a link for you to follow and sign. Also, during the program, you will be asked to sign indemnity waivers on-site at the safari lodges; examples of these are included in the first informational mailing. Your passport should contain at least 11 blank visa pages, some of these pages will need to be consecutive. Letters regarding visas will be sent to all participants, with information about contacting Passport Visas Express, and details of arrangements for non-US citizens. This will be approximately 5 months from departure. A passport is required for this program. It must be valid for at least 6 months after your return date.

Tanzania

Proof of Yellow Fever vaccination is not currently required, however requirement is subject to change and the vaccination is therefore advisable. If your physician advises against you receiving the vaccination due to age or other medical reason, a signed waiver from the physician explaining exemption will suffice; you will need to carry the original letter with you, not a photocopy. Malaria can occur in Tanzania and at Victoria Falls, so malaria prophylaxis is recommended. Staying well hydrated in the dry Namibian climate is essential - be sure to drink plenty of water each day; bottled water is provided throughout this section of the program.

If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Start of Trip:  Hotel check-in; 5:00 p.m. Orientation followed by Welcome Dinner.

Getting to the site: Private transfers for all participants, or as specifically arranged and advised by email. All participants will be contacted by email in advance to confirm their transfer arrangements on Arrival Day.

Getting to the site by train or bus: If you are planning to arrive independently to the first program hotel, please contact the program concierge by email at concierge@roadscholar.org to discuss travel options.

Your trip ends on: Saturday, October 23, 2027 in London Heathrow Airport at Radisson Blu Heathrow Hotel

End of Trip: 10:00 a.m. after breakfast; 11:00 a.m. hotel check-out.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: All participants are offered transfers on the official Arrival and Departure days. The Information Packet Road Scholar sends in advance of the program includes details needed to make your transfer arrangements. If you have arranged your own flights, please contact concierge@roadscholar.org to confirm your plans and whether you require a transfer on the Arrival and Departure days. If you wish to purchase airfare through Road Scholar, please call (800) 241-1404. Please note: In the unlikely event Road Scholar must make changes to the program's arrival or departure details, we will notify all participants as soon as possible. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
